Person of Interest was a science-fiction crime drama that aired on CBS for five seasons from September 22, 2011 to June 21, 2016, and explored government surveillance and the consequences of A.I. The series centered on Harold Finch, a reclusive billionaire and computer programmer who developed for the government "The Machine," a device that could (though collated data) identify individuals planning to commit acts of terrorism. To help him, Finch recruits John Reese, a former CIA agent presumed to be dead. The original cast of Person of Interest starred Jim Caviezel as Reese, Michael Emerson as Finch, and Taraji P. Henson as Detective Jocelyn "Joss" Carter (who left the show in season three).
