Created by Darren Star, Sex and the City aired on HBO for six seasons from June 6, 1998 to February 22, 2004. It was based on the 1997 Candice Bushnell book of the same name, and followed the lives of four women living in New York City who each brought a different perspective to life: Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Park), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon). During its run, Sex and the City was nominated for numerous awards, including 54 Emmys and 24 Golden Globes. The series also got two big-screen features six years after its final episode aired: Sex and the City in 2008 and Sex and the City 2 in 2010.
