Its backdrop is Hawkins, Indiana, a small fictional town where supernatural events occur. With its first season, which premiered on July 15, 2016, Stranger Things became a pop culture phenomenon and a critical darling, earning 18 Emmy nominations in 2017. Stranger Things is created, written, and directed by The Duffer Brothers, who have said on record that the series will likely run for four or five seasons.
