Fictional Places & UniversesLists that explore the creative, visually stunning, most unforgettable worlds in film, TV, literature, comics, video games, and other media.
Vote up the fictional workplaces you'd submit your resume to.
Forget about checking out LinkedIn's career opportunities and trying to network with self-important thought leaders, because the best TV workplaces put those boring jobs to shame. These TV offices you want to work in offer a host of real opportunities beyond the generic "great company culture," “we're like a family here,” and "free coffee," as each one brings something money can't buy: happiness.
Now, while there are many workplace sitcoms around, they aren't the be-all and end-all of fantastic fictional offices. There are hospitals, bars, convenience stores, and even nuclear power plants that wouldn't only look tremendous on a resume, but would also be entertaining places to work at. So polish up the CV and see where to apply next!
The Workplace: One of the government arms of Pawnee is situated in a traditional office space. Nothing too fancy or outrageous, but there are worse places to work, and it has an air of serenity through the hallways.
The Job: As little as humanly possible - kidding. There are several office managers, administrators, and directors who make decisions and oversee the parks and recreational facilities of Pawnee.
The Perks: A chill environment where no one expects too much of employees and everyone would rather share a good laugh than do any serious work. It's government, after all.
The Workplace: A busy and popular bar in Boston, Massachusetts, which is frequented by regulars and other entertaining individuals.
The Job: Bartending and providing life advice to co-workers and patrons.
The Perks: A casual and friendly atmosphere where customers and colleagues become best friends. More importantly, the opportunity to talk to their favorite people all day, every day.
The Workplace: A run-of-the-mill office space in Scranton, Pennsylvania, with an aesthetic that's about as exciting as watching the dirt accumulate on the carpet. Thankfully, the people liven up the drab place.
The Job: Dunder Mifflin is all about pushing and selling paper and office supplies. However, it might secretly be a job where the sole purpose is to entertain the one in charge, since that appears to be the main focus here.
The Perks: Most of the co-workers are fine and friendly enough, though there are a few loose cannons who may be on the most-wanted list somewhere. Also, there's the opportunity to star in indie films such as Threat Level Midnight.
The Workplace: A family-owned burger joint on Ocean Avenue. While Jimmy Pesto's Pizzeria across the street may be more successful, Bob's Burgers has a more homely feeling to it.
The Job: Serving food, coffee, or cashier duties. Don't be disheartened by Bob's general pessimism, though, since he is a glass-half-empty type; everyone else will provide motivation.
The Perks: Sampling the scrumptious burgers and getting to be a part of the Belcher family, who always seem to have excitement and wild adventures following them around.
The Workplace: The HQ for Brooklyn's 99th Precinct is always bursting with cops and crimes that need to be solved. There are several floors - some of which are more mysterious than others.
The Job: Catching criminals and respecting the badge. Although, the latter is optional.
The Perks: Hanging out with fellow law enforcers in a far more lively and entertaining environment than the poor cops on Criminal Minds. Also, having a police siren is cool if someone doesn't feel like sitting in New York traffic.
The Workplace: A small-sized catering company that operates in the Los Angeles area. Most of the staff have worked or dream of working in Tinseltown.
The Job: Catering gigs for the rich and famous, while most of the workers secretly seek out better opportunities and auditions in showbiz.
The Perks: Rubbing shoulders with VIPs. Hanging out with other aspiring and zany actors, writers, and musicians whose stories will inspire and entertain equally, while everyone becomes good friends in the end. Also, there's the opportunity to sample the products on the sly.
