Since it served as an option to the bloated sound of those genres that was all over the airwaves and MTV, it was aptly titled alternative rock. When VH1 polled fellow artists to name the greatest artists of all time, it seemed like a good idea---but in reality, the list was truly flawed. According to them, Coldplay is better than Pearl Jam, Mariah Carey is only greater than six artists, etc! Not to mention other impactful artists were left off of the list. So I thought that maybe we try the countdown one more time, only this time with the perspective of true music fans...YOU..

This list will begin in no particular order, you will see some names that didn&#39;t appear in VH1&#39;s version, no artist appears on the countdown twice, and the order is not my personal opinion (I personally think Bob Marley is the greatest artist of all time). If you don&#39;t like how the list looks, you have the power to change it. Here are the greatest duos in rock music history. Rock and roll has been alive and well for decades now. Lungs is the debut studio album by the English indie rock band Florence and the Machine, released on 3 July 2009 by Island Records. The album debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart for five weeks after its release. In January 2010, the album reached a new peak position of number one for two consecutive weeks. Lungs was eventually certified five-times platinum by the British Phonographic Industry. The album also peaked at number two for six weeks on the Irish Albums Chart.
The album was a main contender for the 2009 Mercury Prize and received largely positive reviews from music critics. Additionally, it won the MasterCard British Album award at the 2010 BRIT Awards. Lungs has sold more than three million copies worldwide.

Ceremonials

Ceremonials is the second studio album by English indie rock band Florence and the Machine, released on 28 October 2011 by Island Records. The band started working on the album in 2010 and finished it in 2011. All of the songs on the album were produced by Paul Epworth, who also worked prominently on the band's debut album Lungs.
The album received acclaim from music critics, who drew comparisons to artists such as Kate Bush, while also praising the instrumentation, Florence Welch's vocals and the production of the songs. As a critical success, it appeared on several year-end critics' lists in late 2011. Furthermore, Ceremonials received a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album and "Shake It Out" received one for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. Ceremonials debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, becoming the band's second consecutive number-one album in the UK. It also debuted at number one on the Australian Albums Chart and peaked at number six on the US Billboard 200 chart, becoming the band's first top ten album in the United States.
