One of the worst parts about having diabetes is having to completely change your diet. So many of the things that were once your favorite foods are now off limits, at least if you want to keep healthy. That means you have to stay away from alcohol, white bread, and most sweets. Instead, you need to supplement the things in your diet that you once loved with other foods. It’s important to comprise your diet with calcium,potassium, fiber, magnesium, and vitamins A, C, and E to get all of your essential nutrients that won’t affect your diabetes.

What are the best foods for diabetes? According to the American Diabetes Association, all of the foods on this list are a part of an acceptable diet for those with diabetes or who are on the border. The diet should be comprised of dark leafy vegetables, citrus fruit, berries, fish, nuts, and lean meats to meet your nutrient needs without hurting your health.

While having diabetes is unfortunate, it doesn’t mean that you can still eat some great food. There are plenty of tasty meal options for people with diabetes. If your favorite foods to eat if you have diabetes aren't on the list of foods for diabetics, make sure to add them.
