Looking for a few great games similar to Minecraft?&nbsp;Although it&#39;s more than 10 years old,&nbsp;Minecraft&nbsp;is still one of the most popular games today (just&nbsp;see our current <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/most-popular-video-games-today/ranker-games" target="_blank">most popular&nbsp;games list</a>&nbsp;for proof.) The open-world adventure title helped launch the sandbox genre to the mainstream, <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/messed-up-things-from-minecraft/jordan-love" target="_blank">giving players complete control</a> over blocky characters and even blockier backgrounds. While it&rsquo;s definitely a revolutionary game, there are plenty of other building games like Minecraft that offer similar gameplay mechanics with tons of replay value.

While there have been tons of imitators and copy-cat titles over the years (some good, some really bad), we&rsquo;ve decided to rank our 15 favorite games that feel and act (or least feature various gameplay elements) the way Minecraft does. From popular titles like Stardew Valley, which offers a lot of the same gameplay mechanics but in a fun 2D version, to survival series like Don&rsquo;t Starve, which of these games have you played? And which ones did you find most similar to Minecraft?

Eco is a wire-frame 3D evolution life simulation game developed by Denton Designs for the Amiga and Atari ST. It was released in 1988 and published by Ocean Software.
The player initially uses mouse or joystick to control an insect, which must avoid predators, find some food, and then find another insect of the same species and mate with it. The player can then unlock one of several "genes", altering the value of which changes their creature. Some changes are only cosmetic and leave the creature in the same species; others can, for instance, make the initial insect a new species with wings and capable of flight. After unlocking multiple genes the player can become a fast dog-like quadruped, a bird, a scorpion or a humanoid. The game does not end until the player starves, is killed by another creature, or deliberately "evolves" into a plant.

Terraria

Terraria is an action-adventure sandbox indie video game series, developed by game studio Re-Logic and released on Microsoft Windows, Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, Windows Phone, Android, and iOS. The game features exploration, crafting, construction, and combat with a variety of creatures in a randomly generated 2D world.
Originally released for Microsoft Windows on May 16, 2011. The game is estimated to have sold about 50,000 copies during its first day of release, with over 17,000 players online at the same time during the first day's peak. 200,000 copies of the game were sold, making it the top-selling game on Steam for the week, ahead of The Witcher 2 and Portal 2. It remained number one on Steam for the first six days of its release, and as of January 2013 has sold over 2,500,000 copies. Terraria became DRM-free on October 2, 2014 when it was released on GOG.com.
The game was released on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade at the end of March 2013 with exclusive content. The PS3 European and Australian release date was May 15, 2013. It was announced on March 28, 2013 that Terraria is coming to the PlayStation Vita. It was released on December 11, 2013.

Subnautica

Subnautica is an open world survival adventure game developed and published by Unknown Worlds Entertainment. It allows the player to freely explore the ocean on an alien planet, known as planet 4546B, collecting unique resources to survive. Subnautica was first released in early access for Microsoft Windows in December 2014, Mac OS X in June 2015, and for Xbox One in May 2016. Subnautica is a survival, adventure game set in an open world environment and played from a first-person perspective. The player controls the lone survivor of a crashed space ship, called the Aurora, on the fictional ocean planet 4546B. The ship's wreckage explodes shortly after starting the game, from which point onward it can be explored. The main objective of the player is to explore the game's world and survive the dangers of the planet while at the same time following the story of the game. Subnautica allows the player to collect resources, construct tools, bases, and submersibles, and interact with the planet's wildlife. In the basic difficulty "Survival", the player will have to maintain nutrition, hydration, and oxygen. The game includes a day and night cycle which affects the gameplay and surroundings. The game includes three other modes: "Freedom mode", in which hunger and thirst are disabled; "Hardcore mode", which is the same as Survival, except that if the player dies, the player will no longer be able to respawn; and "Creative Mode", in which the hunger, thirst, health, and oxygen features are all disabled, all the crafting blueprints are acquired, where no resources are needed to craft and the submersibles do not need energy and cannot be damaged. The game is mainly set underwater, with two explorable islands.

Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is an indie farming simulation role-playing video game developed by Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone and published by Chucklefish. The game was released for Microsoft Windows in February 2016, with ports for OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One released later that year. A Nintendo Switch port was released in October 2017, and a PlayStation Vita port is expected in 2018. In Stardew Valley, the player takes the role of a character who, to get away from the hustle of an office job, takes over their grandfather's dilapidated farm in a place known as Stardew Valley. The player manages their character's time and energy levels as they clear land, plant and tend crops, raise livestock, craft goods, mine for ores, and engage in social activities, including romances leading towards marriage, with the various residents of the small town, all while earning in-game money to expand their farm. The game is open-ended, allowing the player to take on activities as they see fit.
