If you haven't played any of the Souls series, that's the most obvious starting point for games that play like Sekiro. Just like Shadows Die Twice, Dark Souls features challenging boss battles and the same checkpoint progression and leveling-up system (although these games at least give you a chance to get your lost XP back after dying.) However, the inventory management and load outs are much more intricate in this series, requiring you to constantly equip better armor and weapons as your progress through the game. The same goes for Salt and Sanctuary, another similar game to Sekiro that is actually a 2D side-scroller rather than 3D.
If the fast-paced swordplay of Sekiro is what hooked you, try the modern Ninja Gaiden series that debuted in 2004. The games feature similar movement and platforming, as well as satisfying swordplay. There are three main entries for this series, but the third game was received with mixed reviews.
