List Rules Vote for your favorite Halle Berry movies, regardless of critic reviews or how big the role was.

The best Halle Berry movies of all time prove that she’s one of the most well-rounded actresses currently active. Since the early 1990s, she has appeared in plenty of blockbusters and critically-acclaimed movies, earning her first Academy Award in 2001 for Monster’s Ball. Her highest grossing movies have been well-received at the box office as well, as her lifetime box office gross is almost $2 billion.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, both of her parents worked at a psychiatric ward where they both eventually met. Halle Berry graduated high school as an honor student and went on to become Miss Ohio in 1986. In 1989, Berry moved to New York for acting work, finding little success initially. But by the end of the year, she was cast in a short-lived ABC TV series.

Following the show’s cancellation, Berry moved to Los Angeles where she had a recurring role on Knots Landing. Her first major film role was in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever. From there, she had several more supporting roles. One of her biggest and most well-known credits was as Storm in the comic book blockbuster X-Men. Soon after, she co-starred with Billy Bob Thornton in Monster’s Ball.
