Given that the Internet is basically a human necessity today, it's kind of shocking there aren't more horror movies about the Internet. That being said, there are still some good choices for Internet horror movies, so check out our ranked list below for some excellent picks.
Unfriended, released in 2014, is a scary movie about the Internet that uses YouTube, Liveleak, and Skype to tell a tale of teenagers being harassed by an anonymous Internet user. The Den, another scary Internet-themed movie, sees the main character witnessing a murder via webcam, only to become the killer's next target.
There is also Smiley, a story very similar to today's Internet myth of the Slenderman. Perhaps scarier than the film itself, Smiley was so poorly received by Internet communities like 4chan that director Michael Gallagher's personal information was leaked online, with users encouraging others to harass him and his family. It's no wonder why other creators are so hesitant to make a horror movie about being online.
Vote up the scariest horror movies about the Internet below, and downvote any you wouldn't recommend to your worst enemy.
