Wick... John WickIn appreciation of the action thriller franchise that follows a deadly assassin who comes out of retirement to seek [highly justified] personal revenge.
Choosing the best John Wick fight scenes is a difficult task, but we know you're up to it. The three movies in the series - John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2, and John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum - have taken the action genre to new heights, thanks to their intricately-staged fight sequences. Perhaps even more impressively, the filmmakers keep coming up with new twists and fresh settings for those scenes. You'd think that after three movies there would be nowhere left to go, but that simply isn't the case. The body counts continue to rise, John uses more guns, and dogs have started to play a bigger part in the movies with the introduction of Sofia (Halle Berry) and her two guard dogs. But which one of these is the best John Wick fight scene? Maybe it is the one where John fights with a pencil or is it a fight scene in the Continental Hotel. You get to help decide with your votes.
A big part of why John Wick fight scenes work so beautifully can be summed up in two words: Keanu Reeves. The actor trains intensely for the role, working closely with a fight choreographer so that he can do the majority of his own stunts. That allows director Chad Stahelski to use shots that are longer and/or closer, giving the audience a chance to see that it's no stunt double up on the screen. Watching Reeves do his thing cranks up the excitment level a couple of notches. He clearly loves the role, and since the movies have all been great hits, it's safe to say we'll be seeing more of this character in the future.
