List Rules Vote up the most memorable karaoke scenes from your favorite TV shows.

How I Met Your Mother taught us that karaoke is Japanese for empty orchestra, which we all know is hauntingly beautiful. So we thought a list ranking the best karaoke scenes in television series was in order. Whether we’re talking about silly performances, funny moments, or full-on emotional recitals, all these TV karaoke scenes have something in common: they’re very memorable.

Some of the characters on our list have serious singing chops, while others decided to perform for the laughs rather than the accolades. Either way, from Lorelai Gilmore to Dean Winchester, feel free to vote up your favorite karaoke scenes from TV shows. You know you want to.

TV show: Gilmore Girls

Rory was having a hard time, so Lorelai decided to cheer her up by performing a Dolly Parton classic. Who knew that Luke would walk in just at that moment and cause us all to gasp and reach for the tissues. Not a dry eye in the house.

TV Show: House M.D.

We all knew Hugh Laurie can sing, but seeing him do karaoke in character was pretty awesome. Especially with his two trusted employees by his side. Their performance was so good no one dared follow it.

TV show: Friends

She was nervous about performing but totally embraced the spotlight once the audience started cheering. Too bad they were cheering because they could see through her shirt. Mike put it best: bad day not to wear a bra.

TV Show: Angel

David Boreanaz may not have Barry Manilow’s singing talent, but he sure knows how to be utterly charming and utterly ridiculous at the same time. Mic drop.
