The Best LGBTQ+ Characters In Video Games
While The Last of Us Part II is one of the biggest games to feature LGBTQ+ protagonists, there are plenty of other great games that feature openly gay, queer, and bisexual characters. In some cases, these characters’ sexual orientation is only hinted at or alluded to, but in others, a character's identity is often the focal point of the story.Â
This list includes video game characters who are either outright LGBTQ+ or characters in which gamers can choose to pursue gay and lesbian relationships. Kassandra and Alexios from Assassin's Creed Odyssey are two popular examples of video game protagonists where players can choose to pursue same-sex relationships. For characters like Trevor Philips from GTA V, their sexuality is only briefly touched upon, as their gender bias isn't the main focus of their character.Â
Still, there have been plenty of queer, lesbian, and gay characters in video games over the years, yet only recently have these characters started taking a more central role. From acclaimed series like Fallout, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect to indie darlings like Life Is Strange and Gone Home, vote up all your favorite LGBTQ+ video game characters, and add your own if they aren’t included in the list below.
