A list of the best Los Angeles Clippers of all time. For many basketball fans, hearing the Clippers name elicits groans. This is a franchise that has managed to bungle nearly every positive situation that ever goes its way. The team was originally the Buffalo Braves, which formed in 1970, before moving to San Diego in 1978 and becoming the Clippers. Despite the team's cringeworthy history, the Clippers have had more than a few star players on its roster. The team's early years in Buffalo featured multiple Hall of Famers, including Bob McAdoo (who some consider to be the best player in the team's history) and Adrian Dantley. McAdoo along with Randy Smith are members of the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame.Upon moving to San Diego, the Clippers acquired Bill Walton. At the time, Walton was still considered one of the <a href="http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/greatest-centers-of-all-time">best big men of all time</a> in spite of his foot problems. Besides Walton, those San Diego teams were less than memorable.In recent years, the Los Angeles Clippers finally seem to have put together a roster of star players. Christopher Emmanuel Paul (born May 6, 1985) is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, an NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award, two Olympic gold medals, and led the NBA in assists four times and steals a record six times. He has also been selected to ten NBA All-Star teams, nine All-NBA teams, and nine NBA All-Defensive teams.

Ronald Harper (born January 20, 1964) is an American retired professional basketball player and five-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion. He played for four teams in the NBA between 1986 and 2001.

Norm Nixon

Norman Ellard Nixon (born October 11, 1955) is an American retired professional basketball player who spent twelve seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Diego/Los Angeles Clippers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). A two-time NBA All-Star, he won two NBA championships with the Lakers over the Philadelphia 76ers at the onset of their Showtime era in the 1980s.

Sam Cassell

Samuel James Cassell Sr. (born November 18, 1969) is a former professional basketball player and current assistant coach of the Los Angeles Clippers. Drafted 24th overall in the 1993 NBA draft out of Florida State University, Cassell played for eight different teams during his 15-year career. He was selected to the NBA All-Star Game and All-NBA Team once, both in the 2003–04 season. He played the point guard position.
In his first two seasons, he helped the Houston Rockets win back to back championships and won a third with the Boston Celtics in 2008, his last season. He also helped the Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves reach the Conference Finals of the playoffs in 2001 and 2004 respectively, the latter's first-ever in franchise history, and helped the Los Angeles Clippers to their first-ever playoff series victory in 2006. Known for his mid-range jumpshot, Cassell often made clutch baskets late in the fourth quarter to help his team win games.

Mark Jackson

Mark Arrol Jackson (born April 1, 1965) is an American former National Basketball Association (NBA) player and coach. A point guard from St. John's University, he played for the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets in the NBA in a career spanning from 1987 to 2004.
After retiring from playing basketball, Jackson became a broadcast commentator for ESPN and ABC alongside his former coach Jeff Van Gundy and play-by-play man Mike Breen. He also worked as an analyst for The YES Network's New Jersey Nets games. In 2011 the Golden State Warriors hired Jackson as head coach. He coached the team for three seasons, but was fired in 2014 despite leading the Warriors to consecutive playoff appearances for the first time in over 20 years.
On May 17, 2014, Jackson reached a multiyear agreement to return to ESPN as a game analyst.

Baron Davis

Baron Walter Louis Davis (born April 13, 1979) is an American former professional basketball player who is a studio analyst for The NBA on TNT. He is a two-time NBA All-Star. He was drafted with the third overall pick in the 1999 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets. He also played in the NBA for the New Orleans Hornets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks. Davis played college basketball for UCLA, where he was an All-American honoree before turning professional after his sophomore year. He was a star high school player while at Crossroads School.

World B. Free (born Lloyd Bernard Free; December 9, 1953) is an American retired professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1975 to 1988. Free was known as the "Prince of Midair" as well as "All-World".

Gary Grant

Gary Grant (born April 21, 1965) is a retired American professional basketball player at the point guard position in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Gary "The General" Grant played for Canton McKinley High School and collegiately at the University of Michigan. Gary received his BA in Kinesiology.
He was selected in the 1988 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics, but his rights were traded to the Los Angeles Clippers on draft night. There he remained for seven years before moving on to the New York Knicks, the Miami Heat, and the Portland Trail Blazers.  While playing for the Clippers, he was featured in the 1992 film Miracle Beach.During the 2010–11 NCAA Division I men's basketball season while playing for the 2010–11 Michigan Wolverines team,  Darius Morris surpassed Grant's school record single-season assist total set for the 1987–88 team. The following season Trey Burke broke Grant's freshman season assist total record. In the regular season finale for the 2016–17 team, Derrick Walton broke his single-game assists record. Grant continues to hold several Michigan records including career starts (128), career assists (731), career steals (total and per game), career minutes, career turnovers, single-season assists per game, single-season steals (total and per game, 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for both), single-season turnovers, and single-game steals.Grant has three children with Tammie Grant: Taryn, Mahogany, and Piper.

Shaun Livingston

Shaun Patrick Livingston (born September 11, 1985) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Livingston entered the league directly out of high school after he was selected in the first round of the 2004 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers with the fourth overall pick. In 2007, Livingston suffered a debilitating knee injury that damaged almost every part of his left knee, and it took him about a year and a half to return to action. Livingston later played for the Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, Washington Wizards, Charlotte Bobcats, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Brooklyn Nets. He has also spent time with the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League. He is a three-time NBA champion, winning all three with Golden State in 2015, 2017, and 2018.



Eric Bledsoe

Eric Bledsoe (born December 9, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA).  He plays the point guard position, but can also play shooting guard. After a season with Kentucky, he was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 18th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft and subsequently traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. Bledsoe had a four-year tenure with the Phoenix Suns between 2013 and 2017, before being traded to the Bucks.

Mo Williams

Maurice Williams (born December 19, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player who played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). After a successful high school career at Murrah High School, Williams attended college at the University of Alabama, where he led his team as a freshman to a 27–8 record, and also shared an SEC regular-season championship. After two seasons at Alabama, Williams entered the 2003 NBA draft where he was selected with the 47th overall pick by the Utah Jazz. Throughout his career, he has also played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers. In 2009, Williams was selected as an NBA All-Star. In 2016, he won his first NBA championship with the Cavaliers. In May 2018, he became an assistant coach for the Cal State Northridge Matadors men's basketball team.

Pooh Richardson

Jerome "Pooh" Richardson (born May 14, 1966) is an American former basketball player who played 10 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected in the first round of the 1989 NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, the first draft pick in franchise history. He would also play for the Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Clippers during his 10-year NBA career from 1989 to 1999.
Richardson played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins from 1985 to 1989. A three-time first-team all-conference selection in the Pac-10 (now the Pac-12), he set school career records for assists and three-point field goal percentage.
His nickname came from his grandmother, who thought he resembled Winnie the Pooh.

Ernie DiGregorio

Ernest DiGregorio (born January 15, 1951), also known as "Ernie D.", is an American former National Basketball Association player. He was the 1973–74 NBA Rookie of the Year and holds the NBA rookie record for assists in a single game with 25. Due to a severe knee injury suffered early in DiGregorio's professional career, he played only five NBA seasons.

Terry Dehere

Lennox Dominique "Terry" Dehere (born September 12, 1971) is a former American Democratic Party politician, restaurateur, and retired NBA basketball player.
Dehere was born in New York City, and grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey, and played basketball under Coach Bob Hurley while attending St. Anthony's High School in Jersey City, New Jersey.  It is through this relationship that he is best friends with the coach's son, Bobby Hurley.

Darren Collison

Darren Michael Collison (born August 23, 1987) is an American former professional basketball player. He played 10 seasons with five teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He earned NBA All-Rookie Team honors in his first season in the NBA with the New Orleans Hornets.
Collison played four seasons of college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. He earned All-Pac-10 conference honors three times, and won the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award his senior year as the top college player standing 6 feet (1.8 m) or under. He was drafted by the Hornets in the first round with the 21st overall pick of the 2009 NBA draft. Collison also played for the Indiana Pacers, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings.

Andre Miller

Andre Lloyd Miller (born March 19, 1976) is a  American retired professional basketball player. Miller has played professional basketball for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs. Currently, he ranks eleventh all-time in NBA career assists and only missed three games to injury in his 17-year career. He's the only player in NBA history to have at least 16,000 career points, 8,000 assists and 1,500 steals without making an NBA All-Star Game.

Emmette "Em" Bryant is a retired American professional basketball player.
A 6'1" guard from DePaul University, Bryant played eight seasons in the National Basketball Association as a member of the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics and Buffalo Braves. He scored 3,722 points in his career and won a championship with the 1969 Celtics.

He played 9 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and has also worked as an assistant coach for several teams. He played college basketball for Temple.

Winston Garland

Winston Kinnard Garland (born December 19, 1964) is an American former professional basketball player at the point guard position. He played collegiately at the Southeastern Community College (Iowa) for two seasons (1983–84 and 1984–85), and then at the Missouri State University for the two following seasons. He was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round (40th pick overall) of the 1987 NBA draft. Garland played eight professional seasons, 7 of which were in the NBA, where he played for 5 different teams – Golden State Warriors (1987 to 1990), Los Angeles Clippers (1990–91), Denver Nuggets (1991–92), Houston Rockets (1992–93) and Minnesota Timberwolves (1994–95).In his NBA career, Garland played in 511 games and scored a total of 4,799 points. His best year as a professional came during the 1988-89 season as a member of the Warriors, appearing in 79 games and averaging 14.5 ppg. In his rookie campaign, Garland was the first Warrior to record a triple double in five years.
He played one year professionally in Italy, for Benetton Treviso (1993–94, won the Italian Cup). In high school, as a junior, he played for Roosevelt High School, the same school that produced NBA veterans, Dick Barnett and Glenn Robinson, in the 1982 Indiana State Championship.  Roosevelt lost the championship game in the last seconds to Plymouth High School, which was led by Scott Skiles, NBA veteran. In 2007, he was inducted into the Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame - Silver Anniversary Team. Following his playing career, Garland was the head boys' basketball coach at Gary West Side High School in Gary, Indiana from 2009 to 2012.
Garland is the father of Cleveland Cavaliers player Darius Garland.

Brian Taylor

Brian Dwight Taylor (born June 9, 1951) is a retired American professional basketball player.  A 6'2" guard from Princeton University, he was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the second round of the 1972 NBA draft.  However, he began his professional career with the New York Nets of the American Basketball Association, for whom he played four seasons, appearing in two ABA All-Star Games.  He joined the NBA as a member of the Kansas City Kings in 1976, and he averaged a career-high 17 points per game in 1976–77.  He also played for the Denver Nuggets and San Diego Clippers, before a torn achilles tendon forced his retirement in 1982.  His son, Bryce, played guard for the Oregon Ducks.
Taylor graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1969.In 2012, Great Hearts Academies hired Taylor to be the Executive Director of Teleos Preparatory Academy in Phoenix, Arizona.
