A list of the best Los Angeles Clippers of all time. For many basketball fans, hearing the Clippers name elicits groans. This is a franchise that has managed to bungle nearly every positive situation that ever goes its way. The team was originally the Buffalo Braves, which formed in 1970, before moving to San Diego in 1978 and becoming the Clippers. Despite the team's cringeworthy history, the Clippers have had more than a few star players on its roster. The team's early years in Buffalo featured multiple Hall of Famers, including Bob McAdoo (who some consider to be the best player in the team's history) and Adrian Dantley. McAdoo along with Randy Smith are members of the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame.Upon moving to San Diego, the Clippers acquired Bill Walton. At the time, Walton was still considered one of the <a href="http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/greatest-centers-of-all-time">best big men of all time</a> in spite of his foot problems. Ronald Harper (born January 20, 1964) is an American retired professional basketball player and five-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion. He played for four teams in the NBA between 1986 and 2001.

Jamal Crawford

Aaron Jamal Crawford (born March 20, 1980) is an American professional basketball player who  last played for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played for  basketball powerhouse  Rainier Beach High School in Seattle and then the University of Michigan. He made his NBA debut in 2000 for the Chicago Bulls, who acquired him from the Cleveland Cavaliers on draft day. He would later play  for the New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Minnesota Timberwolves. Having earned NBA Sixth Man of the Year honors in 2010 and 2014 and again in 2016, Crawford is the first ever three-time winner of the award. He is the all-time NBA leader in four-point plays, with 55 or 60 counting the playoffs. As recently as April 9, 2019, Crawford (39 years, 20 days) became the oldest player to score 50+ points in a single game, and the first player to do so with four different teams. His 51-point tally is the most points ever scored by a player not in the starting lineup. In all NBA history, he ranks 27th in 50-point games accrued (between George Mikan and Larry Bird) and 7th in three-point field goals made (2,220). Crawford is also only the second player ever to score 10,000+ career points off the bench.



J. J. Redick

Jonathan Clay "JJ" Redick (born June 24, 1984) is an American professional basketball player for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected 11th overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2006 NBA draft. He played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils.
In college, Redick was known for his good three-point and free throw shooting. He set ACC records during his career for most points and most career ACC tournament points, though his ACC career points record was subsequently broken by UNC's Tyler Hansbrough in 2009. Redick is currently the all-time leading scorer for Duke. He also set several other Duke records, including most points in a single season. Redick's jersey was retired by Duke on February 4, 2007.After being drafted by the Magic, he played for seven seasons in Orlando, followed by a short spell with the Milwaukee Bucks, then four seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers. In 2017 he signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, and re-signed with them on a one-year deal the following year.
In addition to his basketball career, Redick is a podcaster, and hosts a basketball and entertainment podcast for The Ringer.

Eric Gordon

Eric Ambrose Gordon Jr. (born December 25, 1988) is an American professional basketball player for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). In high school, he was named "Mr. Basketball" of Indiana during his senior year while playing at North Central High School. He is known, in part, as the subject of a recruiting competition between the University of Illinois and Indiana University in the spring and summer of 2006; because of Gordon's talent and high level of play that year, his recruitment was the subject of media coverage.
Gordon played one season of college basketball at Indiana and was considered one of the top collegiate players in the nation that year. He finished his freshman season leading the Big Ten in scoring and tied for 19th in the nation at 21.5 points per game. Gordon entered the 2008 NBA draft and was selected seventh overall by the Los Angeles Clippers.

World B. Free (born Lloyd Bernard Free; December 9, 1953) is an American retired professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1975 to 1988. Free was known as the "Prince of Midair" as well as "All-World".

Quentin Richardson

Quentin L. Richardson (born April 13, 1980) is an American retired professional basketball player, formerly was the director of player development for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Richardson played professionally for 13 seasons for the Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, Miami Heat and Orlando Magic. He won the NBA Three-Point Shootout in 2005.

Marques Johnson

Marques Kevin Johnson (born February 8, 1956) is an American retired professional basketball player. The small forward played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1977–1989, where he was a five-time All-Star. He spent the majority of his career with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Johnson was a Los Angeles City Section player of the year in high school before attending the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins and won a national championship in 1975.  In his senior year, he won multiple national player of the year awards. Johnson was the third overall pick in the 1977 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks.  He played seven seasons with Milwaukee before finishing his NBA career with the Los Angeles Clippers and the Golden State Warriors. He is currently a basketball analyst for Fox Sports Net.

Cuttino Mobley

Cuttino Rashawn Mobley (born September 1, 1975) is an American retired professional basketball player who played from 1998 to 2008 in the NBA.

Chauncey Billups

Chauncey Ray Billups (born September 25, 1976) is retired American professional basketball player.  He played 17 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). A star at the University of Colorado, he was selected third overall in the 1997 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics. A five-time NBA All-Star and a three-time All-NBA selection, Billups played for the Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Clippers during his NBA career. He won the NBA Finals MVP in 2004 after helping the Pistons beat the Los Angeles Lakers in the Finals, and was given the nickname "Mr. Big Shot" for making late-game shots with Detroit. The Pistons retired his #1 jersey in 2016.In 2004, Billups was honored by the University of Colorado by being the fifth player to have his jersey (number 4) retired. The Coors Events Center also has a large mural of Billups in the northeast corner of the arena as part of his "Chauncey's Kid Roundup" program.

Randy Smith

Randolph "Randy" Smith (December 12, 1948 – June 4, 2009) was an  American professional basketball player who set the NBA record for consecutive games played. From 1972–1982, Smith played in every regular season game, en route to a then-record of 906 straight games (since broken by A. C. Green). He was born in Bellport, New York.

Patrick Beverley

Patrick Beverley (born July 12, 1988) is an American professional basketball player who is currently a player for the Los Angeles Clippers. He played college basketball for Arkansas before spending three and half seasons overseas in Ukraine, Greece and Russia. In January 2013, he joined the Houston Rockets and quickly cemented himself as the team's starting point guard. In June 2017, he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Danilo Gallinari

Danilo Gallinari (Italian pronunciation: [daˈniːlo ɡalliˈnaːri]; born August 8, 1988) is an Italian professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). After spending his first four years as a professional in his native Italy, Gallinari was drafted sixth overall in the 2008 NBA draft by the New York Knicks. He played with the Knicks for two and a half seasons before being traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2011. In 2017, he was acquired by the Clippers. His nickname is Gallo, which is Italian for "rooster".

Tyrone Nesby

Tyrone Lamont Nesby (born January 31, 1976) is an American retired professional basketball player.
Nesby went to Cairo High School in Cairo, Illinois. He played collegiately at Vincennes University (1994–1996), and at UNLV (1996–1998). After being undrafted in the 1998 NBA draft, Nesby started his career by signing with Sioux Falls Skyforce of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He was asked to join the Los Angeles Clippers' training camp after playing successfully in the CBA, and later signed with them, where he averaged 10.1 points per game in his rookie season. He played two years with the Clippers before being traded to the Washington Wizards during the 2000–01 season until the end of the 2001–02 season. After his stint in the NBA he went to Europe, where he played for Olympia Larissa, Metis Varese, Reflex Belgrade, and Lietuvos rytas Vilnius. Nesby finished his career by playing for the Las Vegas Venom of the American Basketball Association (ABA).  On April 13, 2017, Nesby became the head basketball coach at Muhlenberg (PA) High School.

Malik Sealy

Malik Sealy (February 1, 1970 – May 20, 2000) was an American professional basketball player, active from 1992 until his death in an automobile accident at the age of 30. Sealy played eight seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Derek Smith

Derek Ervin Smith (November 1, 1961 – August 9, 1996) was an American professional basketball player. He won a national championship with the Louisville Cardinals in 1980, and spent nine years in the NBA in a career shortened by a knee injury. He would later become an assistant coach for the Washington Bullets from 1994 until his death.

Mo Williams

Maurice Williams (born December 19, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player who played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). After a successful high school career at Murrah High School, Williams attended college at the University of Alabama, where he led his team as a freshman to a 27–8 record, and also shared an SEC regular-season championship. After two seasons at Alabama, Williams entered the 2003 NBA draft where he was selected with the 47th overall pick by the Utah Jazz. Throughout his career, he has also played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers. In 2009, Williams was selected as an NBA All-Star. In 2016, he won his first NBA championship with the Cavaliers. In May 2018, he became an assistant coach for the Cal State Northridge Matadors men's basketball team.

Robert "Bingo" Smith (born February 26, 1946) is an American retired professional basketball player. He played for the San Diego Rockets, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the San Diego Clippers.

Andre Miller

Andre Lloyd Miller (born March 19, 1976) is a  American retired professional basketball player. Miller has played professional basketball for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs. Currently, he ranks eleventh all-time in NBA career assists and only missed three games to injury in his 17-year career. He's the only player in NBA history to have at least 16,000 career points, 8,000 assists and 1,500 steals without making an NBA All-Star Game.

Mike Woodson

Michael Dean Woodson (born March 24, 1958) is a former American basketball player and coach who last worked as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA. He was previously best known as a head coach for the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.

Freeman Williams

Freeman Williams (born May 15, 1956) is a retired American professional basketball player.  He was the 1978 NCAA men's basketball Division I scoring champion, and the Portland State University all-time scoring leader.  Williams was the NCAA Division I national men's basketball individual scoring leader in 1977 and 1978.  Williams was a consensus second team All-American in 1978. He is second in Division I history in scoring, trailing only Pete Maravich. He was born in Los Angeles.
He was a 1978 first round draft pick (8th overall) by the Boston Celtics. His pro playing career started in 1978 with the San Diego Clippers.  He finished in the top 10 for three-point field goals in three consecutive seasons, 1980 through 1982. In December 1980, Freeman became the first Clippers player to win a Player of the Month award, and the only one in franchise history until Elton Brand did so 25 years later.In September 1982, Freeman Williams was traded by the Atlanta Hawks along with John Drew, and cash to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Dominique Wilkins who was drafted by the Jazz and refused to sign. After that season (1982–83), Williams only played in 27 more games: 18 with Utah in 1983 and nine with the Washington Bullets in 1986.
In 1987, Williams played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) for the Tanduay Rhum Masters, where he famously scored 82 points, including 10 three-pointers, in one game.
Freeman had a small part in the 1992 film White Men Can't Jump, playing fictional playground legend Duck Johnson.

Billy Knight

William R. Knight (born June 9, 1952) is an American former professional basketball player and executive. Playing with the Indiana Pacers in both the American Basketball Association (ABA) and later the National Basketball Association (NBA), he was both an ABA and NBA All-Star. He played college basketball with the Pittsburgh Panthers, who retired his No. 34.
In college, Knight was a consensus second-team All-American in 1974. He began his pro career with Indiana, earning ABA All-Rookie First Team honors in 1975. He continued with the Pacers in the NBA, and he also played in the league for the Buffalo Braves, Boston Celtics, Kansas City Kings and San Antonio Spurs. Knight finished his playing career with a season in France. He became an executive with the Pacers and the Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies.  He last served as the executive vice president and general manager of the Atlanta Hawks from 2003 to 2008.
