With more than 20 titles and counting, the Marvel Cinematic Universe was sure to have some memorable romances tucked between the endless fight scenes and sarcastic quips. So let's put down the comic books, grab some popcorn, and watch some movies in order to nail down the best comic book relationships to grace the big screen... at least from Marvel, that is.
From the major relationships that have served as narrative focal points throughout the MCU - we're talking Stark and Potts or Rogers and Carter here - on down to the relationships that have had less time in the spotlight, these are the relationships Marvel fans love to swoon over. Love isn't only reserved for rom-coms after all, right?

The Meet-Cute: These star-crossed lovers have their first meaningful interaction while being driven to the secret location where Rogers will be injected with the Super Soldier Serum and become Captain America. The pre-serum Steve adorably struggles to talk with any kind of confidence during his conversation with Peggy. The pair even joke about it as Peggy asks, "You've no idea how to talk to a woman, do you?"
The Romance: Throughout 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, Steve and Peggy never really get together even though they're clearly interested in each other. Of course, Steve sacrifices himself at the end of the movie, which seemingly dooms any chance for the duo to end up together. Peggy haunts Steve throughout his many MCU appearances, from his visitation to her nursing home in Captain America: The Winter Soldier to his presence at her funeral in Captain America: Civil War, and the tragedy of their situation weighs heavily on his shoulders. Thanks to some Infinity Stone-laced, time-travel tomfoolery, Steve and Peggy end up together in the very last scene of Avengers: Endgame, bringing their arc to a satisfying close.
Most Swoon-Worthy Moment: Watching Steve and Peggy finally have their dance together during the final scene of Avengers: Endgame is undoubtedly the swooniest of swoon-worthy moments, as far as the MCU is concerned.20842Great couple?

The Meet-Cute: Viewers first witness Tony and Pepper's relationship 10 minutes into 2008's Iron Man when Ms. Potts is introduced as Stark's personal assistant. The scene highlights the flirty chemistry between Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow, and showcases Pepper's singular ability to handle Tony's hyperactive personality.
The Romance: As the first couple of the MCU, Tony and Pepper served as an emotional through-line for the ever-growing series from 2008 all the way through 2019's Avengers: Endgame. Fans get to see the pair's relationship blossom during the Iron Man trilogy, falter as they are "taking a break" in Captain America: Civil War, and ultimately result in the precocious Morgan Stark after the duo settles down for good.
Most Swoon-Worthy Moment: After a four-year hiatus from portraying the character, Paltrow came back to the MCU at the end of 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming in a short scene that solidifies Pepper and Tony's relationship. Following years of uncertainty for the future of Pepper's prospects in the MCU, fans were delighted to see Paltrow return. When Tony seemingly proposes to her before a press conference, it becomes clear their relationship is for keeps.20444Great couple?

The Meet-Cute: Though it's clearly not the first time this pair has met - seeing as they are married and Laura is pregnant at the time - Joss Whedon and company dropped a surprise on everyone with the reveal of Clint Barton's family near the midway point of Avengers: Age of Ultron. It's more of a meet-cute for Laura and the Avengers, to be honest.
The Romance: With Linda Cardellini only appearing as Laura Barton in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Endgame, this romance doesn't have all that much screen time logged thus far. This could easily change with the upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series. That being said, Cardellini and Jeremy Renner immediately settle into a comfortable rapport that gives their relationship a credibility that certainly wasn't guaranteed.
Most Swoon-Worthy Moment: That lovely moment near the end of Avengers: Endgame, after the Hulk brings everyone back with the Infinity Stones, where Laura calls Clint on his cell phone five years after being "snapped" into oblivion by Thanos. This is the first inkling the audience gets that the Avengers' quest was successful. As Renner answers the phone, eyes welling with tears, many viewers cannot help but respond with waterworks of their own.17137Great couple?

The Meet-Cute: In a meeting played entirely for comedic effect, Gamora tricks the oafish Quill by flattering him into letting his guard down in order to take an Infinity Stone off his person. Once she has complimented him to lower his defenses, she kicks him in the stomach, takes the Stone, and sprints in the opposite direction.
The Romance: The relationship between Peter and Gamora gestates from a reluctant partnership in the beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy to a genuine love affair by the time Gamora is executed by her adoptive father Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. When a time-displaced Gamora - one who doesn't know Quill at all - is brought to the current timeline from the past in Avengers: Endgame, viewers are left to wonder if the pair will unite again in future MCU films.
Most Swoon-Worthy Moment: While the couple's dance scenes from either Guardians of the Galaxy or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 could easily fit here, it is actually a scene they share together before taking on Thanos in Infinity War that takes the cake as their most intimate scene. In order to make sure Thanos doesn't get his hands on Gamora, she makes Quill promise to terminate her if things go south when they take on the big, purple baddie. This scene, while tragic by its very nature, shows the maturation of the pair's relationship more than any other scene in the franchise.18545Great couple?
