Playboy is an American men's lifestyle magazine that features photographs of nude women as well as journalism and fiction. It was founded in Chicago in 1953 by Hugh Hefner and his associates, and funded in part by a $1,000 loan from Hefner's mother. The magazine has grown into Playboy Enterprises, Inc., with a presence in nearly every medium. Playboy is one of the world's best known brands. In addition to the flagship magazine in the United States, special nation-specific versions of Playboy are published worldwide.
The magazine has a long history of publishing short stories by notable novelists such as Arthur C. Clarke, Ian Fleming, Vladimir Nabokov, Saul Bellow, Chuck Palahniuk, P. G. Wodehouse, Haruki Murakami, and Margaret Atwood. With a regular display of full-page color cartoons, it became a showcase for notable cartoonists, including Harvey Kurtzman, Jack Cole, Eldon Dedini, Jules Feiffer, Shel Silverstein, Erich Sokol, Roy Raymonde, Gahan Wilson, and Rowland B. Maxim is an international men's magazine, devised and launched in the UK, but now based in New York, and prominent for its photography of actresses, singers, and female models whose careers are at a current peak. It is the largest young men's lifestyle brand in America, reaching nearly 9 million readers each month. Maxim Digital reaches more than 4 million unique viewers each month. Maxim magazine publishes 16 editions, sold in 75 countries worldwide.
On February 27, 2014, Maxim was bought by entrepreneur Sardar Biglari. He is the founder of Biglari Holdings and Biglari Capital. As the new owner he commented, "We plan to build the business on multiple dimensions, thereby energizing our readership and viewership."

FHM is a British monthly men's lifestyle magazine. It contains features such as the FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World.

ESPN The Magazine

ESPN The Magazine is a biweekly sports magazine published by the ESPN sports network in Bristol, Connecticut in the United States. The first issue was published on March 11, 1998.
The main sports covered include Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association, National Football League, National Hockey League, college basketball, and college football. The magazine typically takes a more light-hearted and humorous approach to sporting news compared to competitors such as Sports Illustrated and previously the Sporting News. It often covers players whose careers have suffered as a result of incidents off the field.

GQ is an international monthly men's magazine based in New York City. The publication focuses on fashion, style, and culture for men, through articles on food, movies, fitness, sex, music, travel, sports, technology, and books.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is published annually by American Sports Illustrated magazine. The cover photograph features fashion models wearing swimwear in exotic locales. All models featured on the cover of the swimsuit issue in the magazine's history have been women. According to some, the magazine is the arbiter of supermodel succession. The swimsuit issue of the magazine carries advertising that, in 2005 amounted to US$35 million in value. New issues come out around the middle of February or later. First published in 1964, it is credited with making the bikini, invented in 1946, a legitimate piece of apparel. The issue that got the most letters was the 1978 issue. The best selling issue was the 25th Anniversary Issue with Kathy Ireland on the cover in 1989.
Through the years many models, such as Cheryl Tiegs, Christie Brinkley, Paulina Porizkova, Elle Macpherson, Rachel Hunter, Rebecca Romijn, Petra Nemcova, Valeria Mazza, Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, and Marisa Miller, have been featured on the cover. Esquire is a men's magazine, published in the U.S. by the Hearst Corporation. Founded in 1932, it flourished during the Great Depression under the guidance of founders Arnold Gingrich, David A. Smart and Henry L. Jackson.

Details

Details is an American monthly men's magazine published by Condé Nast, founded in 1982 by Annie Flanders. Though primarily a magazine devoted to fashion and lifestyle, Details also features reports on relevant social and political issues.

Popular Mechanics

Popular Mechanics is a classic magazine of popular technology. First published January 11, 1902, by H. H. Windsor, it has been owned since 1958 by the Hearst Corporation. There are nine international editions, including a now-defunct Latin American version that had been published for decades, and a newer South Africa edition. In 2013, the US edition changed from twelve to ten issues per year.

Nuts

Nuts was a British lads' mag published weekly in the United Kingdom and sold every Tuesday. Nuts' marketing campaign at its launch in 2004 used the slogan, "When You Really Need Something Funny".
The magazine closed in April 2014.

Sports Illustrated

Sports Illustrated is an American sports media franchise owned by Time Inc. Its self titled magazine has over 3 million subscribers and is read by 23 million people each week, including over 18 million men. It was the first magazine with circulation over one million to win the National Magazine Award for General Excellence twice. Its swimsuit issue, which has been published since 1964, is now an annual publishing event that generates its own television shows, videos and calendars.

Popular Science

Popular Science is an American monthly magazine carrying popular science content, that is, articles for the general reader on science and technology subjects. Popular Science has won over 58 awards, including the American Society of Magazine Editors awards for its journalistic excellence in both 2003 and 2004. With roots beginning in 1872, PopSci has been translated into over 30 languages and goes out to at least 45 countries.

Men's Fitness is a men's magazine published by American Media, Inc and founded in the United States in 1987. The premier issue featured Michael Pare from the television series The Greatest American Hero.
The magazine's slogan is "How the Best Man Wins". The magazine targets men ages 21–40 years and features in-depth articles on fitness, nutrition, and sports, as well as sex tips, fashion advice, interviews, recipes, and surveys.
Since its inception, Men’s Fitness has become one of the fastest-growing titles in its category and licenses its title and format to Russian, Australian and British editions. Circulation doubled between 1997 and 2003 and continues to expand. As of February 2007, circulation was 700,000.
As of 2009, the British edition is no longer published under licence from AMI. Dennis Publishing has acquired control of the complete publishing rights for Men’s Fitness in the UK and Ireland.

Wired is a full-color monthly American magazine, published in both print and online editions, that reports on how emerging technologies affect culture, the economy and politics. Owned by Condé Nast, it is headquartered in San Francisco, California and has been in publication since January 1993. Several spin-offs have been launched including: Wired UK, Wired Italia, Wired Japan and Wired Germany.
In its earliest colophons, Wired credited Canadian media theorist Marshall McLuhan as its "patron saint." From the beginning, the strongest immediate influence on the magazine's editorial outlook came from the techno-utopian agenda of co-founder Stewart Brand and his long-time associate Kevin Kelly.
From 1998 to 2006, Wired magazine and Wired News had separate owners. However, throughout that time, Wired News remained responsible for reprinting Wired magazine's content online, due to a business agreement made when Condé Nast purchased the magazine. In July 2006, Condé Nast announced an agreement to buy Wired News for $25 million, reuniting the magazine with its website.
Wired is really known for coining new terms, such as "the Long Tail" and "crowdsourcing".

Men's Journal is a monthly men's lifestyle magazine focused on outdoor recreation and comprising editorials on the outdoors, environmental issues, health and fitness, style and fashion, and gear. It was founded in 1992 by Jann Wenner, who sought to create a publication for "active, accomplished men to fuel an adventurous and discerning lifestyle". It is published by Wenner Media, which also produces Rolling Stone and US Weekly.

Outside is an American magazine focused on the outdoors. The first issue was published in September 1977. Its mission statement is:

Consumer Reports is an American magazine published monthly by Consumers Union since 1936. It publishes reviews and comparisons of consumer products and services based on reporting and results from its in-house testing laboratory and survey research center. They accept no advertising, pay for all the products they test, and, as a not for profit organization, they have no shareholders. It also publishes cleaning and general buying guides. It has approximately 7.3 million subscribers and an annual testing budget of approximately US$21 million.

Men's Vogue

Men's Vogue was a monthly men's magazine that covered fashion, design, art, culture, sports and technology. On October 30, 2008 Condé Nast announced that they intended to fold the magazine into Vogue proper as a bi-annual subscriber's supplement. However, the magazine has ceased to be published since its original folding date.

Field & Stream

Field & Stream is a magazine featuring hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities in the United States. Together with Sports Afield and Outdoor Life, it is considered one of the Big Three of American outdoor publishing.
Founded in 1895 by John P. Burkhard and Henry Wellington Wack, the magazine has a readership of approximately 1 million. Depending on the season and the availability of information, the magazine may offer advice on deer, bass, birds, trout, shotguns and rifles. The magazine absorbed its chief competitor, Forest and Stream, in 1930.
The magazine also offers tricks, survival tips, miscellaneous facts and sometimes a recipe. In addition to those departments, each issue contains a few featured articles. Field & Stream once worked with Sierra On-Line and Dynamix to create hunting and fishing video games, the Trophy Bass and the Trophy Hunting series.
Henry Holt and Company purchased the magazine in 1951. Holt eventually ended up being owned by CBS, who sold their magazines in a leveraged buyout led by division head Peter Diamandis. It was sold by Diamandis to the Times-Mirror Company, which sold their magazines to Time Inc. in 2001. It was one of 18 magazines sold to Bonnier Group in February 2007. While Field & Stream magazine belongs to Bonnier, the right to use the Field & Stream name on goods and services belongs to a private investment group unrelated to Bonnier and the magazine, while Dick's Sporting Goods owns the rights to the name for retail stores.

Thrasher magazine

Thrasher is a monthly skateboarding magazine, founded in 1981 by Kevin Thatcher, Eric Swenson, and Fausto Vitello, and published by the San Francisco, United States-based company, High Speed Productions, Inc. The publication consists of skateboard- and music-related articles, photography, interviews, skatepark reviews, and miscellaneous content. The magazine also maintains a website that consists of numerous features, including segments such as "Firing Line" and "Hall of Meat", an online store, a video collection, a radio show, and a forum for registered users. The company also owns and operates the Double Rock indoor skateboarding facility.

Vanity Fair

Vanity Fair is a magazine of popular culture, fashion, and current affairs published by Condé Nast. The present Vanity Fair has been published since 1983 and there have been editions for four European countries as well as the U.S. edition. This revived the title whose last title publication was February 1936 after a run from 1913. The current editor is Graydon Carter.
