List RulesOnly artists born or raised in Michigan or bands formed in Michigan.

Here are the best artists and bands from Michigan. Some of the most famous singers and bands of all time got their start in Michigan. In particular, Detroit has been one of the most musically-innovative cities in all of United States history. There are three primary musical developments Michigan is known for: Motown, punk rock, and techno music. You will find immensely talented Michigan musical artists on this list. Are there any you are surprised to see who came from the Great Lakes State?

Throughout the 1950s and 60s, the state produced a number of chart-topping artists. A small sampling of the artists that had a #1 Billboard hit over the years includes Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and Madonna. More recently, bands like Greta van Fleet has risen to great acclaim, showing that Michigan still has what it takes to produce incredible talents, such as Jack White and Eminem. Other popular Michigan artists include Aretha Franklin, Kid Rock, Big Sean, and Al Green.

Vote up the best Michigan artists, and feel free to add any other musicians, rappers, singers, and bands with Michigan roots.
