September 15, 2020 68 votes 18 voters12 items

While the PC used to be the de facto way to hit the virtual green, there have been a surprising number of great console releases in recent years. From the standard classics like PGA Tour to epic RPG-style games like What the Golf?, there's really no shortage of ace games. Whether you're looking for a few good golf video games to up your putting game or just want to sit back and slap a few balls around with your friends (or complete strangers), this list ranks some of the best golf games on the PS4, Xbox, PC, Switch and even mobile.

PGA Tour 2K21's graphics are so sublime that you'll feel like you're really out there on the green with the wind blowing in your face (even if it's just the fan), while multiplayer party games like Infinite Minigolf are obviously designed to be a bit more lighthearted. These types of games play with physics and various other mechanics, and if you're not paying attention, you could end up making a huge mess on the green. But that's all right—sometimes that's just part of the game.

Check out all these must-play games to help you become the best virtual golfer ever...on the computer.

    Everybody's Golf

The original version of Everybody's Golf came out in 1997, but it received a much-needed update in 2017 for the PS4. It puts a humorous take on golf with cartoon characters and miniature golf modes. The online option is surprisingly popular considering the fact that it's an old(er) golf simulator, and the free-roaming ability makes it a ton of fun.

It's also worth noting that you can also drive golf carts around the courses for some added fun. You can even explore the green with up to 50 different players.

A veteran franchise by today's standards, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is the first game in the series to not include Tiger Woods on the title. There are three modes to play in: Arcade, 3-Click, and Tour. The last one is the most intense where you have a higher sensitivity and no assists. It comes with a state-of-the-art engine that offers more realistic interactions and physics.

It even accounts for grass length and firmness that affect how far your ball goes. You can even play in the Night Club Challenge, which has you taking shots in a nightclub-inspired locale.
