If you've seen Event Horizon or The Black Hole, you know that black holes can be downright terrifying places. But they can also be beautiful and awe-inspiring, which is why they're such popular subjects for science fiction movies. There are even some black hole movies that take place underwater like Sphere.   • Interstellar is a 2014 science fiction film about a team of astronauts who travel through a wormhole in search of a new home for humanity. The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Jessica Chastain. Interstellar was directed by Christopher Nolan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with his brother Jonathan Nolan. The film was produced by Nolan's production company Syncopy Inc. and was distributed by Paramount Pictures. Interstellar received critical acclaim upon its release, with many praising its direction, acting, visuals, and themes. The film grossed over $675 million worldwide and was nominated for five Academy Awards, winning one for Best Visual Effects.

    In Earth's future, a global crop blight and second Dust Bowl are slowly rendering the planet uninhabitable. Professor Brand (Michael Caine), a brilliant NASA physicist, is working on plans to save mankind by transporting Earth's population to a new home via a wormhole. But first, Brand must send former NASA pilot Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and a team of researchers through the wormhole and across the galaxy to find out which of three planets could be mankind's new home.

  • In "Event Horizon", a space crew is sent to investigate the disappearance of a ship that vanished into a black hole seven years earlier. Upon arrival, they find the ship floating near the black hole, and soon realize that something has come back with it. As they explore the ship, they are haunted by visions of their own deaths, and eventually discover that the black hole has opened a doorway to another dimension. The crew must fight for their lives as they attempt to escape the ship and its horrifying secrets.

    When the Event Horizon, a spacecraft that vanished years earlier, suddenly reappears, a team is dispatched to investigate the ship. Accompanied by the Event Horizon's creator, William Weir (Sam Neill), the crew of the Lewis and Clark, led by Capt. Miller (Laurence Fishburne), begins to explore the seemingly abandoned vessel. However, it soon becomes evident that something sinister resides in its corridors, and that the horrors that befell the Event Horizon's previous journey are still present.
