The Most Powerful 'Never Rarely Sometimes Always' Quotes

March 18, 2020 132 votes 35 voters8 items

After you've seen the acclaimed new film, we want you to vote for the best Never Rarely Sometimes Always quotes. The movie won a Dramatic Special Jury Award for Neo-Realism at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival thanks to its sensitive performances. A smart script that contains many poignant one liners also helped on that count.

The story revolves around two teenage girls. Autumn (Sidney Flanigan) has become unintentionally pregnant. She decides to terminate the pregnancy but isn't able to do so in the small Pennsylvania area where she lives. To get around that, Autumn enlists her cousin Skylar (Talia Ryder) to journey with her to New York City, where she presumably can get the procedure done more easily. From there, the story tracks what happens and how the event changes the lives of both characters. The title refers to the answers on an assessment tool a nurse administers to Autumn.

Never Rarely Sometimes Always was written and directed by Eliza Hittman. She previously directed the critically praised film Beach Rats, as well as two episodes of the popular Netflix drama 13 Reasons Why
