With Hollywood increasingly embracing diversity, some of the best new Black shows have premiered since 2015. From lighthearted sitcoms to sci-fi thrillers to shows that tackle race relations head on, some amazing work has come out showcasing spectacular African American writers, producers, and actors. What shows will you find on this new African American shows list? Airing on NBC from 2015 to 2017, The Carmichael Show examines a variety of serious social issues with sharp humor and hilarious jokes. Insecure was inspired by Issa Rae's popular web series Awkward before HBO turned it into a full-blown show. The Netflix smash hit Dear White People premiered in 2017, and was based on the critically acclaimed movie of the same name. Other good series featured on this list include Grown-ish, Superior Donuts, and Atlanta.
