A list of the best New Orleans Pelicans of all time. Prior to the 2013-14 season, the New Orleans franchise changed its name from the Hornets, which it had been known as since its inception in 1988-89. It took a few years for the franchise to find its footing, but by the early 1990s, the Hornets were one of the most exciting teams in the league. Behind star players like Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning, the Hornets featured some of the best young players in the NBA. But like many NBA teams, the Hornets had to trade its best players, only to replace with other great players like Glen Rice and Anthony Mason. It's rare that a team is able to trade two of its best players of all time for two more great players. But in those early years, the Hornets were successfully able to do that.

The NBA Draft has been kind to the franchise as well. In addition to Johnson and Mourning, the team has drafted some of the top players at their positions, like Baron Davis and Chris Paul. Superstar point guards are hard to come by, yet New Orleans managed to snare two of them. Paul is considered one of the best current NBA players and his presence on the Hornets made them a team to watch.

While many of the players on this are from the team's Hornets days, there are a few future Pelicans players whose futures are bright. Anthony Davis, the first overall pick in 2012 is a Pelicans player who has great potential to be one of the best big men in the NBA.

This is a list of the best New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans of all time. If you see someone from this franchise who is not listed, feel free to add him. Vote or rerank the list based on who you think is the greatest New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans player of all time.
