This is a list of the best New York Jets of all time. Originally called the Titans, the New York Jets took part in two of the AFL's biggest moments before the merger of the two leagues in 1970. First, the Jets were able to lure one of the best players in franchise history to them in 1965. Joe Namath is still considered one of the best Jets ever nearly 50 years after he took his first snaps as quarterback. Don Maynard

Donald Rogers Maynard (born January 25, 1935) is a former American football player who played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) with the New York Giants and St. Louis Cardinals; the American Football League (AFL) with the New York Jets; and the World Football League (WFL) with the Shreveport Steamer.

Al Toon

Albert Lee Toon Jr. (born April 30, 1963) is a former professional American football wide receiver player who played for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons.  A two-time First Team All-Big Ten pick at the University of Wisconsin, Toon set several school football records for the Wisconsin Badgers.  The three-time Pro Bowl selectee played his entire NFL career with the Jets (1985-1992), leading his team and the league in receptions during the late 1980s.  He is considered to be among the Jets' all-time greatest wide receivers and overall players in franchise history.   



Wesley Walker

Wesley Darcel Walker (born May 26, 1955) is a former professional American football wide receiver who played for the New York Jets from 1977 to 1989.
Walker graduated from Carson High School in Carson, California, where he set many receiving and return records, and was an All-American at the University of California, catching 86 passes for 2,206 yards and 22 touchdowns over the course of four seasons, an average of 25.7 yards per catch.He was noted for his great speed, averaging over 20 yards per reception over many seasons (his career average was 19 yards per reception). At the time of his retirement, he was second in Jets all-time receiving yardage. Legally blind in his left eye, Walker overcame this handicap to become one of the Jets all-time great receivers.
He led the league in receiving yards in 1978, was elected to the Pro Bowl twice 1978 and 1982, and was named the New York Jets MVP in 1978.
Walker was one of the dominant players in the 1982 NFL Playoffs: in two postseason games, he caught 15 passes for 314 yards and 2 touchdowns, as the Jets beat the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Raiders, both on the road.
His best receiving season came in 1983, when he caught 61 receptions; and in 1986 he had a career-best 12 receiving touchdowns. Four of them were scored in week three, as he caught a game-winning touchdown from the Jets quarterback Ken O'Brien in overtime to give the Jets a wild shootout win 51-45 over the Miami Dolphins.
When he retired, he had caught 438 passes for 8306 yards and 71 touchdowns.
Walker is now a retired physical education teacher at Park View Elementary School in Kings Park, New York, and an occasional sports radio show commentator. He has two sons and a daughter. His older son, John, was a 3x All-American lacrosse player at The United States Military Academy at West Point. His younger son, Austin, played lacrosse at Johns Hopkins University. He is also the godfather of Alexandra Florant, the daughter of the track and field star Carl Florant.
Like many former NFL players, Walker suffers from a variety of ailments as a direct result from his playing days, which he detailed in a revealing 2016 interview with Long Island Pulse Magazine. He graduated from Mercy College.



Wayne Chrebet (born August 14, 1973) is a former American football wide receiver who played 11 seasons for the New York Jets of the National Football League from 1995 to 2005.

Laveranues Coles

Laveranues Leon Coles (; born December 29, 1977) is a former American football wide receiver who played 11 seasons in the National Football League (NFL).  He played college football for Florida State University.  He was drafted by the New York Jets in the third round of the 2000 NFL Draft.  A Pro Bowl selection in 2003, Coles also played for the Washington Redskins and Cincinnati Bengals.

Keyshawn Johnson

Joseph Keyshawn Johnson (born July 22, 1972) is a former American football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for eleven seasons.
He played college football for the University of Southern California, and earned All-American honors.  The first pick in the 1996 NFL Draft, he played professionally for the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers.
He retired from football following the 2006 season, and spent seven years as a television broadcaster for the sports channel ESPN.  Keyshawn Johnson was a contestant on the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars, in which he was the first contestant eliminated.

Jerricho Cotchery

Jerricho Cotchery (born June 16, 1982) is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) with the Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, and Pittsburgh Steelers from 2004 to 2015. He played college football for North Carolina State University.

Santana Moss

Santana Terrell Moss (born June 1, 1979) is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for fourteen seasons. He played college football for the University of Miami, where he earned All-American honors.  Moss was picked by the New York Jets in the first round of the 2001 NFL Draft, where he spent 4 seasons with the team, before playing for the Washington Redskins for 10 seasons. Moss was selected as an All-Pro in 2005.

Brandon Marshall

Brandon Tyrone Marshall (born March 23, 1984) is an American football wide receiver who is currently a free agent. He played college football at UCF, and was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Marshall has also played for the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, New York Giants, and the Seattle Seahawks. He was signed by the New Orleans Saints as a free agent on November 12, 2018, he was later released that season on December 12, 2018 without appearing in a single game for the Saints.
Marshall is known for his ability to break and dodge tackles. He led all NFL wide receivers in yards after first contact for the 2007 NFL season. Regarding Marshall's breakaway ability, cornerback Brandon Flowers said, "Brandon Marshall is a defensive lineman playing wide receiver. He wants to inflict punishment on you. He wants you to try to tackle him so he can shove you off of him and get more yards." Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha said Marshall is "the toughest guy to bring down, one-on-one."On December 13, 2009, against the Indianapolis Colts, Marshall set an NFL record for receptions in a game with 21. He also is one of six players in NFL history to catch at least 100 passes in three consecutive seasons.

Santonio Holmes

Santonio Holmes Jr. (born March 3, 1984) is a former American football wide receiver. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft after playing college football at Ohio State. In 2009, Holmes was named MVP of Super Bowl XLIII as his team beat the Arizona Cardinals. In 2010, Holmes was traded to the New York Jets in exchange for the Jets' fifth round pick. Holmes also played a season for the Chicago Bears.

Robert Sean Moore (born September 27, 1968) is currently the Wide Receivers coach for the Tennessee Titans and a former professional American football player who was selected by the New York Jets in the 1990 Supplemental Draft.

Jeremy Kerley

Jeremy Dashon Kerley (born November 8, 1988) is a former American football wide receiver and return specialist. He played college football at TCU and was drafted by the New York Jets in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft and has also had stints with the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Buffalo Bills.

Eric Decker

Eric Thomas Decker (born March 15, 1987) is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 8 seasons. He played college football and college baseball at the University of Minnesota, and was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. After four seasons with the Broncos, he played for the New York Jets for three years and then the Tennessee Titans for one year.

Braylon Edwards

Braylon Jamel Edwards (born February 21, 1983) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Michigan, earned unanimous All-American honors, and was recognized as the top college wide receiver.  He was also the first receiver in Big Ten Conference history to record three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and only the third to do so in NCAA Division I-A.  He was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the third overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. He also played for the New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

Quincy Enunwa is an American football wide receiver for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Jets in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at Nebraska.

George Sauer

George Henry Sauer (December 11, 1910 – February 5, 1994) was an American football player, coach, college sports administrator, and professional football executive.  He played college football as a halfback at the University of Nebraska from 1931 to 1933 and then with the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL) from 1935 to 1937, helping them win the 1936 NFL championship as their starting left halfback.  Sauer served as the head football coach at the University of New Hampshire (1937–1941), the University of Kansas (1946–1947), the United States Naval Academy (1948–1949), and Baylor University (1950–1955), compiling a career college football record of 78–55–9.  He was also the head basketball coach at New Hampshire for one season in 1938–39, tallying a mark of 3–14.  Sauer was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a player in 1954.

Jerome Barkum

Jerome Barkum (born July 18, 1950) is a former wide receiver and tight end in the National Football League. He played 12 years with New York Jets. He was drafted by the Jets out of Jackson State University with the 9th overall pick in the first round of the 1972 NFL Draft. In 1973, he was selected to the Pro Bowl as a WR. His biggest catch in the NFL was made in Shea Stadium in a 1981 clash against the Miami Dolphins in the last seconds of the game to lift the Jets to victory 16-15. The Jets made the playoffs that year for the first time since their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in 1969. Barkum was also a part of the Jets team in the 1982 season that made it to that year's AFC Championship.



Rich Caster

Richard C. Caster (born October 16, 1948) is a former American football wide receiver and tight end who played thirteen seasons in the National Football League (NFL), mainly for the New York Jets. He was selected to the Pro Bowl after the 1972, 1974 and 1975 seasons.  He played college football at Jackson State University.  He became a member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity while a student at Jackson State University.

David Randle Knight is a former professional American football player who played wide receiver for five seasons for the New York Jets in the National Football League.



Derrick Gaffney

Derrick Tyrone Gaffney (born May 24, 1955) is an American former college and professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons during the 1970s and 1980s.  Gaffney played college football for the University of Florida, and thereafter, he played professionally for the New York Jets of the NFL.

Eddie Bell

Eddie Bell (born September 13, 1946 in Waco, Texas) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League. 
He graduated from G.W. Carver High School in Waco in 1965. He played in the Texas high school all-star game in Houston, TX in 1965 as a running back. On July 16, 2016, he will be inducted the Prairie View Interscholastic League Coaches Association (PVILCA) Hall of Fame.He played for the Idaho State Bengels from 1967-1969. In 1969, he was first team all-American and holds the national record for pass receiving, for 96 receptions for 1,522 yards and 21 touchdowns in a single season.  In 1969, he was selected to the All-American bowl in Tampa Florida coached by Bo Schembechler, Duffy Daugherty and Buddy Ryan. In 1969, he was also the sprint champion in the 220 yard dash for the Big Sky Conference. After that he was inducted into Ring of Honor and the Hall of Fame of Idaho State. On November 22, 1969 was Ed Bell's Day in the city of Pocatello, Idaho for athletic accomplishments. In 2016, he was nominated for the NCAA college football Hall of Fame.He was drafted by the New York Jets in the ninth round of the 1970 NFL Draft. 
The first opportunity to start was in his rookie year and he tied a club record of 12 catches in one game against the Baltimore Colts thrown by Joe Namath.  The co holders of that record are Hall of Famer Don Maynard and Art Powell (wide receiver).Bell also played for the San Diego Chargers.

Art Monk

James Arthur Monk (born December 5, 1957) is an American former football wide receiver in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins, New York Jets, and the Philadelphia Eagles.  Monk was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
He is a relative (first cousin once removed) of jazz pioneer Thelonious Monk.

Dedric Ward

Dedric Lamar Ward (born September 29, 1974) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League for the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys. He also was an assistant coach in the National Football League. He played college football at Northern Iowa University.

Plaxico Burress

Plaxico Antonio Burress (born August 12, 1977) is a former American football wide receiver who played 13 seasons in the National Football League. He played college football at Michigan State, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers eighth overall in the 2000 NFL Draft. He also played for the New York Giants and the New York Jets, and caught the game-winning touchdown in Super Bowl XLII as the Giants beat the then-undefeated New England Patriots.
