Here are the best artists and bands from North Dakota. Throughout all of American history, musical trends have emerged. For all of that time, North Dakota has served as a great reflection of all of the musical stylings popularized in the country. Jazz and ragtime artists were able to break into the mainstream after performing locally first. The state also has a fairly large punk rock scene, which is popular with younger audiences. Jonny Lang rose to national prominence in 1997 as one of the premier blues guitarists and singers of his generation. His album Turn Around even won him a Grammy. The state is also the birthplace of rapper Wiz Khalifa, who was born in Minot. No matter what you like to listen to, chances are good North Dakota has played a role in your favorite playlists.
