When Blizzard Entertainment released Overwatch back in May of 2016, it was already stocked with a plethora of gorgeous skin options for its (then) 21 heroes, whose rich backstories enhanced their appeal to gamers everywhere. A few months later, players were graced with a free Olympic Summer Games seasonal event DLC pack that included even more new skins for players to customize their favorite characters with.
Shortly after that, Blizzard started rolling out more and more seasonal events like Halloween Terror, Winter Wonderland and, most recently, the Chinese Year of the Rooster event. According to the Gamepedia page for Overwatch collectibles, there are currently 289 non-default skins in-game - 57 of which cannot be obtained from normal loot boxes - ranging in rarity from Common to Rare to Epic to Legendary.
