The most successful Project Runway winners impressed both judges and fashion aficionados viewing from home with their unique styles and skills. These contenders began as aspiring designers, and ended up at New York Fashion Week, vying for the top spot on the show. While all the past victors certainly had their strong points, who are the best Project Runway winners?

Project Runway contestants come from a diverse range of backgrounds and always bring something unique to the table. Season 16 winner Kentaro Kameyama made headlines for being the first Japanese winner of the show. Ashley Nell Tipton used a plus-sized model, Margie Ashcroft, to break barriers in terms of body type in the fashion world. These and other popular contenders made use of at times unconventional materials to create some memorable designs that secured their victory.
