The Rapture is an incredible plot device to use in films. In this list of the best Christian movies about the rapture, there are comedic, inspirational, horrific, and, of course, religious rapture movies. The best rapture movies seem to take a world-ending situation and make the films very personal when it comes to the characters. They tend to only focus on a few characters as they make their way through the post-apocalyptic world looking for answers.
The rapture is a scary concept since they’re basically saying that while others may get into heaven you may not, and new rapture films tend to lean into those horrific aspects. I guess you could say rapture films at their core are about the fear of missing out, also known as FOMO.
