This Is Christmas

This Is Christmas is the tenth studio album and first Christmas album by American singer Luther Vandross released by Epic Records on October 18, 1995. The album received mixed to negative reviews from music critics. Sony Music Special Products reissued the album on January 15, 2002 as Home for Christmas with an altered order of tracks, and again in October 2012 as part of The Classic Christmas Album line with additional tracks. The two editions of the album has sold a combined total of 1,147,000 copies as of December 2012. This is Christmas lent its name to a syndicated television special Vandross hosted which aired in November and December 1995, and featured songs from this album, as well as performances by his special guests.

One Wish: The Holiday Album

One Wish: The Holiday Album is the only Christmas album by American singer Whitney Houston, released in November 2003. The album featured the single "One Wish", which reached the top twenty on Billboard '​s U.S. Adult Contemporary chart. The album spent six weeks on the Billboard 200 and as of January 2013 it had sold over 546,000 copies to date. The album also features a duet with Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina on "The Little Drummer Boy." The album also re-uses "Joy to the World" and "Who Would Imagine a King" from 1996's The Preacher's Wife: Original Soundtrack Album.

The Temptations Christmas Card is a 1970 Christmas album by The Temptations for the Gordy label. The group's first holiday release, it features each Temptation leading on various popular Christmas standards and original Christmas songs.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas is the first Christmas album and the fourth studio album by American singer Mariah Carey. Released by Columbia Records on November 7, 1994, the album features cover versions of popular Christmas tunes and original material. Carey worked with Walter Afanasieff, with whom she wrote all of the original tracks, as well as producing Carey's interpretations of the covered material. The album contains a contemporary holiday theme, and featured "authentic, gospel flavored background vocals".
The album features instrumentation from keyboards, bass guitars, drums, percussion and heavy backing vocals. After its release, the album received generally positive reviews and became a worldwide success. Critics praised Carey's uplifting and flavored vocals, as well as her skilled songwriting alongside Afanasieff. Singles were released from the album, being sent to different radio stations for promotional purposes.
Merry Christmas was released at the peak of the initial stretch of Carey's career, between Music Box and Daydream. The album produced the worldwide classic single, "All I Want for Christmas Is You", which became the best-selling holiday ringtone in the US.

Star Bright

Star Bright is the fourth studio album and first Christmas album by Vanessa Williams, released in the US on November 5, 1996 on Mercury Records. It achieved critical acclaim and success as one of the best-selling holiday albums of 1996 and '97. It peaked at #36 on the Billboard 200, #24 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and #5 on the Top Holiday Albums.
The album went on to be nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album and was certified gold by the RIAA for sales of over 500,000 copies. Although no official singles were released from the album, "Do You Hear What I Hear/The Little Drummer Boy" became an instant holiday classic becoming the most played holiday record of 1996 and reaching #15 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart.
Also, again while the album released no official singles, a video was shot in 1993 for "What Child Is This?" that was originally featured on the A&M Records Christmas compilation A Very Special Christmas 2. The Christmas Collection: 20th Century Masters: The Best of Vanessa Williams is a 2003 remastered/re-release of Vanessa L. Williams' 1996 original Christmas album, Star Bright.
