Love is in the air in Hollywood and on the silver screen. The best movies based on romance books feature star-crossed lovers fighting to be with one another no matter the obstacles. Many films based on romantic novels reaffirm the power of hope, love, and devotion while others end with broken hearts. Some of the best romantic films based off books have even won Academy Awards.

What classic romantic novels adapted into movies will you find on this list? The Notebook has to be near the top. Based on Nicholas Sparks' book of the same name, the 2004 film finds an older man sharing the story of a young couple falling in love. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams even became a real-life couple after working together on the film. A Walk to Remember and Nights in Rodanthe – are also romantic movies that are Nicholas Sparks' books. Other good movies on this list include historical romance novels made into movies Gone with the Wind.

Undying love was at the heart of the Twilight franchise which was based on Stephenie Meyer's book series. Other good romance books made into movies include Bridget Jones's Diary, Fifty Shades of Grey, and How Stella Got Her Groove Back.
