This list of sci-fi movies for 13 year olds finds the sweet spot. This list has movies that are edgier than say WALL·E but are still appropriate for new teenagers. Here are the top sci-fi films for 13 year olds.

Of course the slew of really well-made PG-13 superhero movies are going to make the list. Black Panther and Iron Man are more than just good fighting evil. They both comment on society and culture. But there are other appropriate sci-fi movies for 13 year old teens where a cape is not needed.

Alfonso Cuarón’s Academy Award winning epic Gravity is sure to hold any teenager’s attention. Additionally, the intricately weaved time loop narrative that makes up Edge of Tomorrow will challenge a teenager just enough.
