The Best Scotch Brands

Scotch is a very distinct tasting liquor. All scotch must be aged for at least three years in oak barrels, giving it a distinctive flavor based on the number of years it aged. Some consider scotch to be one of the truest forms of alcohol. Scotch is an alcoholic beverage that is made from malt barley with the introduction of wheat and rye in the late 18th century. The mash can be different combinations of barley, rye, wheat or corn. Whatever is used gives the scotch a different flavor. It is then placed in a wooden cask in Scotland (it has to be Scotland to be scotch) and left to age and ferment. However long it is left in the cask is also going to change the taste of the scotch.

Since all of these factors come into play, each scotch producer comes up with a scotch that taste slightly different from another's. This leaves the drinker with many varying options to consider when trying to choose which scotch is the right one for them. Should they go with the pot stilled single malt scotch like Glenmorangie, Highland Park or Tambowie? How about a aged, blended scotch like Chivas Regal, White Horse, Famous Grouse or Talisker?
