The Walking Dead - Season 5

This season saw a large transition for Rick and the crew. Scott Gimple and the producers got a lot done across the 16 episodes, introducing new characters and traveling at least a whopping 20 miles in the process. That’s a traveling joke for TWD fans. Our intrepid diehards escaped the prison and the mad dog that was The Governor in season four only to end up on the menu of the Terminus gang. Although Daryl is probably delicious, the gang were not having it, especially not Carol.

Having been exiled by Rick for mercy killing Karen and David back at the prison, she comes back around to save everyone’s literal bacon. Carol is our Highplains Drifter in her meat poncho, blowing up the Termites, leaving Mama BBQ Queen for the walkers, and getting a big ole hug from her long lost redneck homie Daryl.

From here, they cross paths with the worst priest ever Father Gabriel who’s hiding the fact that he turned his back on his entire flock just to save his own precious skin and his church. The Terminus cannibals show up at the church, snatch Bob (who’s been bitten), and get a nasty surprise after munching on his infected foot at the camp BBQt. Bob is rescued but is a goner. Sasha has to say goodbye to her love and Tyrese has to stab him in the head.

Daryl still hasn’t forgotten his near girlfriend Beth and tracks her to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta with Carol in tow. After a run-in with Dawn, we lose Beth, but we gain a Noah. The gang travels to Noah’s old community to see what’s still standing, but it looks like the Wolves got there first. On a scout of Noah’s house, Tyrese gets bitten by Noah’s little brother and another random walker. We say goodbye to the former NFL player and few men on Earth with a conscience. Sasha does not take Tyrese and Bob’s deaths well and is full-on PTSD by the time they end up in Alexandria, following the guidance of the Tennessee top-hatted scientist Dr. Eugene Porter, who is leading them to D.C. for the cure.  The rest of the season focuses on how the group fits into Alexandria, ending with Rick killing near girlfriend Jessie’s husband, Porch D*ck, as Morgan (from season one) turns up to witness it. So, not so much.

The 90 minute season finale drew a record 15.8 million with 10.4 million in the 18-49 demographic, a huge win for AMC.

The series is based on the series of comic books of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard; it was developed for television by Frank Darabont, who serves as executive producer for the second season along with Kirkman, Glen Mazzara, David Alpert and Gale Anne Hurd. After Darabont was fired during pre-production, Mazzara served as showrunner for the second season. This season introduces the notable comic book characters Hershel Greene and Maggie Greene, and is mainly set at the Greenes' farm. The season continues the story of Rick Grimes and his group of survivors as they continue to survive in a world filled with zombies. The group then encounter the farm of veterinarian Hershel Greene, where tensions arise among members of the group and the mysterious inhabitants of the farm.
