Grunge Bands were everywhere in the 90's. From Nirvana to Pearl Jam, grunge music was the most popular among teens and young adults across America and the world.
Grunge originated in the Seattle area of Washington state in the early 90s with bands like Green River, Mudhoney and Alice in Chains. Known for it's heavy rhythms and bleak lyrics it was popular among high school and college students. It was also noted that the approved uniform for grunge music lovers was a flannel shirt and wallet chain. There were a few bands that came into grunge from outside Seattle as well, most notably Stone Temple Pilots, L7 and Hole.This is a list of the best selling grunge bands from 1990 to 1996 as that was the height of the movement.
