Serie A's Best Young Player in 21/22, Osimhen led Napoli's assault on the league this past season, although the Nigerian's season was disrupted at times by nagging injuries that kept Gli Azzuri from pushing for the Coppa Campioni d'Italia. The 23-year-old spent two months on the sidelines with a fractured cheek, but was in terrific form when he played. The striker notched 14 goals in 27 games, his fourth straight season in double digits, while reaching his highest amount of goals scored per 90 minutes.

    Rafael Leão

Ladies and gentlemen, your Serie A Most Valuable Player for 2021-22! In a year Milan ended their 11-year league title drought, the 22-year-old Portuguese winger showed out as one of only three players, along with Domenico Berardi and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, to put up double digit goals and double digit assists in league play. Only Leão did it for the Scudetto winners, which is why he's the MVP.

    Nicolò Barella

One of the best young Italian players of his generation, Barella is a smooth operator in the midfield. He's an intelligent and composed box-to-box mezzala who can dribble through defenses or jumpstart the counterattack with sharp passing, as evidenced by the Inter Milan man's career high 11 assists in 2022, in addition to being a league leader in shot creating actions and goal creating actions. Known to strike from distance, Barella added 3 goals in his club's Serie A runner up campaign.

Hernandez’s bombing runs up the left flank were a trademark of Stefano Pioli's Coppa Campioni d'Italia winning AC Milan side in 21/22. The Frenchman continued to build his reputation as one of the best attacking left backs in the game by scoring 5 goals and sending home 5 assists in league play. France head coach Didier Deschamps took notice, handing Hernandez his first caps for his country over the last year.

    Mike Maignan

Who needs Donnarumma? Not title-winning Milan, that's for sure. Which is maybe the greatest compliment that could be paid to GK Mike Maignan. A year after their homegrown Italian, academy developed superstar goalkeeper departed for PSG, there is little FOMO around San Siro, after their French replacement stepped up and was hugely impressive in his debut season in Italy. Maignan kept 17 clean sheets in 32 Serie A games, while blocking his way to career high 81% save percentage. He even notched an assist in February.

Dybala was Serie A's Most Valuable Player only two years ago, in a season which saw the Argentine international put up very similar stats to his tallies in 21/22.. The 28-year-old striker reached double digit goals for the sixth time in his professional career, while crucially adding 3 goals and 1 assist in 5 Champions League games.
