There are so many wonderful, small cities in Italy, each with it's own unique  character.  Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to squeeze every Italian city in your travel itinerary. To help you plan a memorable trip, we've listed the small cities in Italy that are definitely worth a stop.

Italy is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world, welcoming millions each year, but top vacation spots in Italy like Rome, Venice, Florence, Naples, and Vatican City get much of the love. Small cities like Siena, Perugia, and Assisi pack just as much punch for travelers as the larger cities with attractions like universities, museums, and stadiums. Luckily, the existing inexpensive rail system and other public transportation makes reaching these cities relatively easy. Once there, walking will allow you to see all the cities these hidden gems have to offer.
