Eminem surprised the world when he released his new 2020 album, Music To Be Murdered By. The hip hop superstar's 11th LP, which follows the 2018 album Kamikaze, spans 20 tracks in length (including skits) and pays tribute to thriller director Alfred Hitchcock's 1958 recording of the same name. Alongside Mac Miller's posthumous Circles LP, Music To Be Murdered By is one of the first two major rap albums released in 2020.
Marshall Mathers managed to recruit an all-star roster of features for the endeavor, including top pop singers Ed Sheeran and Skylar Grey, as well as rappers like Royce Da 5'9" and Young M.A. Perhaps most surprisingly, the album includes a collaboration between Eminem and Juice WRLD, only a month after the late emo rapper's untimely death. The album's release comes alongside the music video for its lead single, "Darkness," a pro-gun control anthem which centers around a reworking of Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence."
