The Fiddler on the Roof soundtrack proves that - all the jovial singing and dancing aside - musicals can be sober reflections on history. The show was revolutionary because it eschewed the happy endings expected from musical theater, presenting audiences with a bleak conclusion instead. While the show starts out as a lighthearted comedy about a Jewish family living in Russia in the early 1900s, Fiddler on the Roof ended with a pogrom forcing the entire Jewish population to leave town. Any musical theater nerd knows nothing brings the tears like the bittersweet Fiddler on the Roof. Here, you'll find all the Fiddler on the Roof songs ranked by singability.

"If I Were a Rich Man" - once revamped by Gwen Stefani - is certainly one of the most famous songs on the soundtrack, but there are many lesser known tunes from Fiddler Broadway fans adore. "Sunrise, Sunset" is a melancholic lullaby-like tune about the passing of time. "Miracles of Miracles" sings about the rapture that comes with falling in love. "Do You Love Me?" offers a more played down - but equally genuine - take on love, affection, and romance. Any one of these songs would be great for a show tunes playlist - as long as you're prepared to tear up while listening!
