List Rules Only country singers born or raised in South Carolina.

South Carolina, particularly Myrtle Beach, has produced numerous famous country stars over the years. Carolina Opry, which is a country music styled variety show, was founded in 1986 by Calvin Gilmore, a well-known country singer, producer, and entrepreneur. It was one of the first family-friendly entertainment venues that produced live music on the Grand Stand. The venue turned the state into one of the preeminent places for country music on the East Coast. Plenty of country singers from South Carolina has broken out into the mainstream and have performed for audiences all over the United States.

Darius Rucker, best known for being the lead singer of the rock band Hootie and the Blowfish, became a country singer after he went solo. He's made such hits as "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" and "It Won't Be Like This for Long." Other popular country singers from South Carolina include Josh Turner, Lee Brice, and Bill Anderson.
