Carolina Opry, which is a country music styled variety show, was founded in 1986 by Calvin Gilmore, a well-known country singer, producer, and entrepreneur. It was one of the first family-friendly entertainment venues that produced live music on the Grand Stand. The venue turned the state into one of the preeminent places for country music on the East Coast.
