There have been times over Spidey&rsquo;s career where the reader has been forced to witness acts that can only be called demented or holy-balls-can-you-believe-that-guy-just-stole-Peter-Parker&#39;s-body&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/what-happened-doc-ok-spider-man/stephanroget" target="_blank">became the Superior Spider-Man</a>?

While other heroes have it hard, the worst things that Spider-Man villains have ever done would make Wolverine run back to Canada. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Spider-Man: Homecoming&nbsp;was Marvel Studios&#39; and Columbia Pictures&#39; first collaboration in the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe and it does some heavy, heavy lifting. While other MCU films have focused primarily on&nbsp;their title character&#39;s grand adventure and&nbsp;heroic journey,&nbsp;Homecoming also&nbsp;does that, but more so&nbsp;it enriches the world with details about how exactly The Avengers and the events surrounding them have shaped and altered everyday life.

From The Vulture&#39;s origin being retold as a literal salvager with Chitauri technology, to details like The Triskelion clean up efforts following the events of&nbsp;The Winter Soldier, to Bruce Banner&nbsp;being a scientist that is taught about in high school,&nbsp;Spider-Man: Homecoming&nbsp;is filled with details that most people miss on their first and even second viewings.&nbsp;

Tom Holland is an amazing Spider-Man, but he isn&#39;t the Amazing Spider-Man.&nbsp;Andrew Garfield is the best Spider-Man. He just is. Even if you can make a case for Holland&nbsp;(and <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/spider-man-homecoming-easter-eggs/zack-howe" target="_blank">Spider-Man: Homecoming</a> was great), you definitely can&#39;t for Tobey Maguire.&nbsp;The strongest argument can only be made for&nbsp;Garfield.

Seriously, the only thing worse than Emo Spidey&nbsp;is the <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/james-cameron-spider-man-movie/jacob-shelton" target="_blank">James Cameron version of the character</a> that mercifully never came to be. Better than the worst possible scenario, doesn&#39;t mean the best.&nbsp;The Amazing Spider-Man is widely considered one of&nbsp;(if not)&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/best-spider-verse-spiderman-versions/ranker-comics" target="_blank">best versions of Spidey</a>. Nobody embodies Peter Parker like Garfield, certainly not the improbably old Maguire, and Holland&#39;s just a wee bit too twee. Garfield is truly the only reasonable option for <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/best-spider-man-tv-shows-movies/ranker-entertainment" target="_blank">the greatest Spider-Man of all time</a>.&nbsp;

The 2018 film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse&nbsp;has <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/into-the-spider-verse-behind-the-scenes/jack-morgan" target="_blank">groundbreaking animation</a> and is quite possibly <a class="edS-cl" href="https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/best-superheroes-all-time?ref=internalCrossLinking_keyword">the best superhero</a> movie ever made. It&#39;s also packed with details and Easter eggs that are easy to miss. Thankfully eagle-eyed fans have their spider-sense attuned to spotting every reference&nbsp;the average viewer missed. Here are some of our favorites.&nbsp;

Spider-Man: Far from Home&nbsp;was tasked with following the biggest superhero movie of all-time,&nbsp;Avengers: Endgame, and officially ending Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (which explains why there are so many additional&nbsp;secrets in Spider-Man: Far from Home).&nbsp;And though it should probably come as no surprise at this point, Far from Home absolutely stuck the sticky, webbed landing.

Like most MCU movies, Far from Home&nbsp;is crammed with <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/funniest-moments-spiderman-comics/jacob-shelton" target="_blank">hilarious moments</a> and <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/funniest-spiderman-lines/ranker-comics" target="_blank">memorable one-liners</a>&nbsp;that still somehow serve the mind-melting action and engrossing plot. There&#39;s just so much going on that it can be easy to miss all the&nbsp;Far from Home Easter eggs sprinkled throughout. There are references to both classic Spider-Man comics and older MCU&nbsp;films, as well as a handful of homages to the Spider-Man movies from the early 2000s, back before the MCU was even&nbsp;a twinkle in Kevin Feige&#39;s eye.

There are countless callbacks to comic continuity in Miles Morales&#39;s cinematic debut, but arguably one of the greatest Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse references of all came in the post-credits scene. This bit involves Miguel O&#39;Hara, AKA the Spider-Man of 2099, visiting the world of the classic &#39;60s animated&nbsp;Spider-Man series.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been doing gangbusters in recent years, breaking box office records and becoming a pop culture mainstay in the process. There once was a time when the idea of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a pipe dream, but then a deal was struck and Peter Parker arrived just in time for&nbsp;Captain America: Civil War. Since then, Spidey has played a central role in several Avengers adventures and has two solo films of his own. Although his contractual status remains nebulous, it seems all but certain that he&rsquo;ll continue to be a big part of the MCU moving forward.

Behind The Scenes

Of all the iconic &lsquo;<a class="edS-cl" href="https://www.ranker.com/list/best-animated-superhero-tv-shows/ranker-tv?ref=internalCrossLinking_keyword">90s superhero cartoons</a>, the show focusing on Marvel Comics&rsquo; premier web-slinger is among the most beloved. And the story behind the making of Spider-Man: The Animated Series is almost as interesting as what happened on the screen. Fans wondering why Spider-Man: The Animated Series was canceled will find the answer less than satisfactory, but the reasons behind the show&rsquo;s success up until that point are significantly more engaging and inspiring.&nbsp;

When Tom Holland stepped into the Spidey-suit fans finally got the Peter Parker we&#39;d always dreamed of, and more importantly, one that felt true to his character in the comics. His performance as&nbsp;the beloved superhero captures his bravery, his endearing nature, and most of all his teenage awkwardness. Parker is just a kid trying to navigate figuring out who he is, and throughout his appearances in the&nbsp;Marvel Cinematic Universe,&nbsp;he has some pretty uncomfortable moments. These are the most awkward, and adorable, Peter Parker moments.&nbsp;

We&rsquo;re ranking the best Mary Jane Watson actresses in movies and TV. Mary Jane&rsquo;s first appearance was way back in 1965 in issue #25 of The Amazing Spider-Man.
