They say to never judge a book by its cover, but that's a very hard piece of advice to follow. The cinematic equivalent, posters, are equally important. Poster-making is truly an art form. A good poster must evocatively convey a film's title, the cast, the tone, and maybe even a plot point or two without ever spoiling anything.
The Star Wars posters are (virtually) all masterpieces, many done by acclaimed poster artist Drew Struzan, who actually came out of retirement to create a teaser poster for The Force Awakens. It's fascinating to look back through the decades and see how Star Wars (and film advertising) has changed. The original Episode IV: A New Hope teaser even features a different logo! The Return of the Jedi teaser refers to it by its original title, Revenge of the Jedi, while the Phantom Menace posters are arguably better than the movies they advertise.
So take a look back at all of the Star Wars posters over the years and vote up your favorites. Is Empire Strikes Back your favorite Star Wars film? But does it have the best posters? It's time to decide which film has the best theatrical artwork.
