The Stargate franchise series started with a movie simply named Stargate and released in 1994. It introducing viewers to the concept of these titular “Stargates,” ancient devices that create a wormhole to destinations across the universe. Since then, there have been some great Stargate series – expanding quickly into an incredibly interconnected franchise that features five TV series and three films.
Stargate SG-1 ran 214 episodes across 10 seasons. The show takes place after the events of the film and follows the SG-1 military team as it explores the galaxy. Stargate Universe which stars Robert Carlyle, follows Nicholas Rush and his team following an attack on their secret military base.
