The Academy Awards

The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, is an annual awards show presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) for artistic and technical merit in the film industry. The awards are an international recognition of excellence in cinematic achievements as assessed by the Academy's voting membership. The various category winners are awarded a copy of a golden statuette, officially called the "Academy Award of Merit", although more commonly referred to by its nickname "Oscar". The award statuette was originally sculpted by George Stanley from a design sketch by Cedric Gibbons. The Academy Awards ceremony was first broadcast on radio in 1930 and televised for the first time in 1953. It is the oldest worldwide entertainment awards ceremony and is now seen live worldwide. Its equivalents – the Emmy Awards for television, the Tony Awards for theater, and the Grammy Awards for music – are modeled after the Academy Awards.

The Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Broadway Theatre, more commonly known as the Tony Award or Tonys, is an annual award show recognizing excellence in live Broadway theatre. The awards are presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League at an annual ceremony in Manhattan and broadcast live on CBS Television. The Tony Awards are considered the highest U.S. theatre honor, the New York theatre industry's equivalent to the Academy Awards (Oscars) for film, the Emmy Awards for television, and the Grammy Awards for music. It also forms the fourth spoke in the EGOT, that is, someone who has won all four awards.

The Emmy Awards

The Emmy Awards, or Emmys, is an annual award show presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS), the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), and the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS) recognizing excellence in the television industry. An Emmy Award and is the equivalent of an Academy Award (for film), the Tony Award (for theater), and the Grammy Award (for music). The awards ceremony is aired in rotation among the four major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox).
Because Emmys are given in various sectors of the American television industry, they are presented in different annual ceremonies held throughout the year. The two events that receive the most media coverage are the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Daytime Emmy Awards, which recognize outstanding work in American primetime and daytime entertainment programming, respectively.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts or BAFTA Film Awards, first awarded in 1949, is an annual award show hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) to honor the best British and international contributions to film. The ceremonies were initially held at the flagship Odeon cinema in Leicester Square in London, before being held at the Royal Opera House from 2008 to 2016. Since 2017, the ceremony has been held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The BAFTA award trophy is a mask, designed by American sculptor Mitzi Cunliffe.

The BET Awards is an annual awards show recognizing outstanding achievements in the entertainment industry, presented by BET. Established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year, the awards are broadcast live on BET. The BET Award Trophy, inspired by three words - aspire, ascend, achieve, was designed by artist/sculptor Carlos "Mare139" Rodriguez. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by artists, and some of the awards of more popular interest are presented in a televised ceremony.

National Dog Show

The National Dog Show Presented by Purina is a conformation show sanctioned by the American Kennel Club. The National Dog Show has been ongoing since 2002. The show is held by The Kennel Club of Philadelphia a founding club of AKC, the Kennel Club of Philadelphia. It traditionally takes place on the third from last weekend in November over two days. The NDS's motto: Dog before master.
The National Dog show is one of the three major dog shows in the United States, along with the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship and the Westminster Dog Show. Winners may be invited to compete at Crufts. As with all AKC conformation shows, mixed-breed dogs are not eligible to participate.
The show is nationally televised in the United States on NBC every Thanksgiving; the show immediately follows the network's coverage of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and airs at noon in all time zones. Actor John O'Hurley is the program's host, and the show's presenting sponsor is Nestlé Purina PetCare, maker of numerous brands of dog food such as Alpo, Beggin' Strips, Beneful, Dog Chow, and Purina ONE.
The program drew an audience of approximately 18.7 million viewers in 2008, making it the most watched dog show in the United States.

American Music Awards

The American Music Awards is an annual fan-voted awards show for excellence in music, created by Dick Clark in 1973 for ABC when the network's contract to present the Grammy Awards expired. Unlike the Grammys, which are awarded on the basis of votes by members of the Recording Academy, the AMAs are determined by a poll of the public and music buyers. The award statuette is manufactured by the New York firm Society Awards.

The People's Choice Awards is an annual awards show recognizing the people and the work of popular culture, as voted on by the general public. First awarded in 1975, it was broadcast on CBS until 2017 and moved to E! in 2018. In Canada, it is shown on Global. Procter & Gamble, the show's only sponsor, bought the show from creator Bob Stivers in 1982. Apart from the required local advertising and network promotional time, all advertising during the awards show is solely by P&G brands. The awards were originally based on Gallup polls but switched to online voting in 2009.

MTV Movie & TV Awards

The MTV Movie Awards is an annual award show presented by MTV for popularity in film and television. The nominees are decided by producers and executives at MTV. Winners are decided online by the general public. Presently voting is done through MTV's official website through a special Movie Awards link at movieawards.mtv.com. First awarded in 1992, the event was taped and broadcast a few days later until 2007. Winners are presented with the "golden popcorn" statue, made by New York firm, Society Awards.

MTV Video Music Awards

The MTV Video Music Awards (also known as the VMAs) is an annual award show presented by the cable channel MTV to honor the best in the music video medium. The annual VMA ceremony occurs before the end of summer and held either in late August or mid-September, and broadcast live on MTV, along with simulcasts on MTV's sister networks to nullify in-house competition. Originally conceived as an alternative to the Grammy Awards, by 2001, the VMA had become a coveted award. The statue given to winners is an astronaut on the moon, one of the earliest representations of MTV. The statue was conceived by Manhattan Design, also designers of the original MTV logo. The statue is now made by New York firm, Society Awards.
The first VMA ceremony was held in 1984 at New York City's Radio City Music Hall. The ceremonies are normally held in either New York City or Los Angeles.

CMT Music Awards

The CMT Music Awards is an annual fan-voted awards show for country music videos and television performances. The awards ceremony is held every year in Nashville, Tennessee, and broadcast live on CMT. Voting takes place on CMT's website, CMT.com. Originally created as the Music City News Awards in 1967 and merging with The Nashville Network Viewer's Choice Awards in 1990, the ceremony went through several more iterations before being renamed the CMT Music Awards in 2005.
