The Best Texas Rangers of All Time

This is a list of the greatest Texas Rangers in the history of the franchise. Originally the second incarnation of the Washington Senators, the team moved to Arlington and became the Texas Rangers. It took the team 25 years, but they made their first playoff appearance in 1996, winning the American League Wild Card. After making the playoffs in three of four years, the Rangers fell off for most of the 2000s. But through a series of shrewd trades and developing their farm system, the Rangers went to back-to-back World Series in 2010 and 2011. Though they didn't win either World Series, many of the best Rangers players ever participated in those playoff games, which is an encouraging sign to fans that the team's better years are ahead.

During those leans years, the Rangers had one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history on their roster. Nolan Ryan ended his career with the Rangers with a bang. Ryan spent five seasons with the Rangers. During his time in Texas, Ryan earned his 300th career victory, struck out his 5,000 batter and threw his sixth and seventh no-hitters. Ryan had his number 34 retired by the Rangers in 1996 and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.

To many, Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez is considered one of the greatest position player in Rangers history. Not too far behind in the hearts and minds of Rangers fans are Juan Gonzalez, Michael Young, Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre to name a few.
