The Cars formed in Boston in the late '70s, initially with a geeky punk bravado meets mainstream rock, evidenced on their eponymous debut, which had hits like "Good Times Roll" and "My Best Friend's Girl." Their sound evolved more into pop on 1984's Heartbeat City, and the iconic video for "You Might Think" won the first ever Video of the Year at the debut ceremony of the MTV Video Awards.
