List Rules This list includes studio albums only, so if you add an album make sure it's a proper studio release.

The Mars Volta are considered one of the best modern progressive rock bands. Since they’re such an influential band, let’s rank the best Mars Volta albums, with the help of your votes. Formed in 2001 by Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar) and Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocals) after their former band, At the Drive-In broke up. The Mars Volta's sound experimented with hardcore, psych rock, and free jazz most notably with Frances the Mute (2005) and Amputechture (2006).

This Mars Volta discography is ranked from best to worst, so the top Mars Volta albums can be found at the top of the list. To make it easy for you, we haven't included The Mars Volta singles, EPs, or compilations, so everything you see here should only be studio albums. If you think the greatest Mars Volta album isn't high enough on the list, then be sure to vote for it so it receives the credit it deserves. Make sure you don't just vote for critically acclaimed albums; if you have a favorite Mars Volta album, then vote it up, even if it's not necessarily the most popular.

List features albums like their debut De-Loused in the Comatorium (2003) and their more recent release, Noctourniquet (2012). This list of popular Mars Volta CDs has been voted on by music fans around the world, so the order of this list isn't just one person's opinion.
