What are the greatest band cameos in movie history? Making a comprehensive list of all musicians who've graced the big screen (albeit briefly) over the years would take... well, years. Here are some of the biggest, and the best. From Rush to KISS to the Afghan Whigs, check out some of the most memorable band and musician cameos ever.
Bruce Springsteen appears in the 2000 movie High Fidelity. While he's on screen for less than a minute, total, the cameo actually serves a very useful purpose in the film, as the Boss gives Rob (John Cusack) some much-needed advice. Who wouldn't want relationship advice from Springsteen?
BB King is one of a slew of musicians who make cameos in Blues Brothers 2000. King plays vocalist Malvern Gasperone, member of The Louisiana Gator Boys supergroup. Other band members include Gary U.S. Bonds, Eric Clapton, Clarence Clemons, Bo Diddley, and Dr. John. This movie is crawling with HUGE musical legends. Unfortunately, it leaves much to be desired film-wise - especially compared to the original Blues Brothers.
Green Day makes a cameo in this animated film, appearing as themselves and performing their own take on the classic Simpsons theme song. They also perform a (hilarious, mournful) "Nearer My God to Thee" as they exit.
The legendary rock trio Rush make a rare movie cameo in the 2009 comedy I Love You, Man, which stars Paul Rudd and Jason Segel as the lead characters (who seriously bond over their mutual Rush fan-boy status).
