A list of the best Toronto Raptors of all time. Formed in 1995, the Raptors are currently the only NBA team based out of the United States. In the team's short history, it hasn't experienced much success outside of a few years at the turn of the century. Behind the best player in team history, Vince Carter, the Raptors made the playoffs a handful of times, with its only division title coming in 2007. With Carter as the team's best player,, the Raptors advanced out the first round only once in 2001. For a franchise that hasn't had many winning seasons, the Raptors have had a number of Rookie of the Year Award winners. In addition to Carter, Damon Stoudamire and former first overall pick Andrea Bargnani won the award.Some of the best players in Raptors history haven't stuck around to lead Toronto to a championship. The best example of this is star power forward Chris Bosh. One of the <a href="http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/top-10-current-nba-players">best current NBA players</a>, Bosh bolted Toronto in 2010 for Miami to team up with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. The same goes for Tracy McGrady, who was a rising star but left Canada to play for the Orlando Magic in 2000 just before he became a household name.&nbsp;This is a list of the best Toronto Raptors of all time. Chris Bosh

Christopher Wesson Bosh (born March 24, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player. A high school "Mr. Basketball" in Texas, Bosh left Georgia Tech after one season to enter the 2003 NBA draft. He was selected fourth overall by the Toronto Raptors in a draft class that included multiple future NBA superstars such as LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony. 
While at Toronto, Bosh became a five-time NBA All-Star, was named to the All-NBA Second Team once, played for the U.S. national team (with whom he won a gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics), and supplanted former fan favorite Vince Carter as the face and leader of the Raptors franchise. In the 2006–07 season, Bosh led the Raptors to their first playoff appearance in five years and their first-ever division title. Bosh was nicknamed "CB4" by then-Toronto Raptors play-by-play commentator Chuck Swirsky, a combination of Bosh's initials and then jersey number. He left Toronto in 2010 as the franchise's all-time leader in points, rebounds, blocks, and minutes played. 
In 2010, after seven seasons with the Raptors, Bosh entered into a sign-and-trade deal in which he was traded to the Miami Heat. In Miami, Bosh joined fellow stars Dwyane Wade and LeBron James; the trio became known as the Big Three. Bosh spent the second half of his career with Miami, appearing in the NBA Finals each year from 2011 to 2014 and winning NBA titles in 2012 and 2013. Bosh made the NBA All-Star team every year during his time in Miami. His career was cut short by a blood clotting condition that the NBA ruled to be a career-ending illness. Bosh played his final NBA game on February 9, 2016. Notwithstanding the NBA's ruling, Bosh fought to resume his playing career for three years before announcing in February 2019 that he intended to retire. On March 26, the Heat retired his no. 1 jersey in a ceremony before a regular season game with the visiting Orlando Magic.Seeking to promote sports and education amongst youths in Dallas and Toronto, Bosh set up the Chris Bosh Foundation and regularly speaks to youths about the benefits of reading.

Jonas Valančiūnas

Jonas Valančiūnas (Lithuanian pronunciation: ​[ˈjoːnɐs vɐɫɐnʲˈtɕûːnɐs]; born 6 May 1992) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected by the Toronto Raptors with the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft.
Valančiūnas has been a member of the Lithuania men's national basketball team since age 19. He won two EuroBasket silver medals in EuroBasket 2013 and EuroBasket 2015, earning All-Tournament honours in the latter. Valančiūnas also appeared in the documentary The Other Dream Team.

Antonio Davis

Antonio Lee Davis (born October 31, 1968) is an American retired National Basketball Association (NBA) player. Davis is also the former president of the NBA Players Association (NBPA). On October 31, 2012, ESPN announced the hiring of Davis as a studio analyst for NBA broadcasts.  He is also currently a co-host/analyst on SiriusXM NBA Radio.

Marc Gasol

Marc Gasol Sáez (born 29 January 1985) is a Spanish professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). A center, he was drafted 48th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2007 NBA draft. After having his rights traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in February 2008 in a deal that sent his older brother Pau to the Lakers, he signed with the team and remained with the franchise until being traded to the Toronto Raptors in 2019, where he won his first NBA championship. He is a two-time All-NBA Team member, a three-time NBA All-Star, and an NBA champion. In 2013, he was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

Charles Oakley

Charles Oakley (born December 18, 1963) is an American former professional basketball player. Oakley was a member of the National Basketball Association's Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets. A power forward, he consistently ranked as one of the best rebounders in the NBA. In 2017, he was confirmed to both play and coach the Killer 3's for the debut of the BIG3, a new basketball league focusing on 3-on-3 basketball.

Marcus Camby

Marcus Dion Camby (born March 22, 1974) is a American retired professional basketball player who played 17 seasons in the National Basketball Association. He was named Defensive Player of the Year during the 2006–07 NBA season, leading the league in blocked shots per game. Camby is also a four-time member of the NBA All-Defensive Team and is 12th on the NBA's all-time career blocks list.

Hakeem Olajuwon

Hakeem Abdul Olajuwon (; Yoruba: [olaɟuwɔ̃]; born January 21, 1963), formerly spelled (& still pronounced as) Akeem Olajuwon, is a Nigerian-American former professional basketball player. From 1984 to 2002, he played the center position in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Houston Rockets and the Toronto Raptors. He led the Rockets to back-to-back NBA championships in 1994 and 1995. In 2008, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, and in 2016, he was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame. Listed at 7 ft 0 in (2.13 m),  Olajuwon is considered one of the greatest centers ever to play the game. He was nicknamed "The Dream" during his basketball career after he dunked so effortlessly that his college coach said it "looked like a dream."Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Olajuwon traveled from his home country to play for the University of Houston under head coach Guy Lewis. His college career for the Cougars included three trips to the Final Four. Olajuwon was drafted by the Houston Rockets with the first overall selection of the 1984 NBA draft, a draft that included Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, and John Stockton. He combined with the 7 ft 4 in (2.24 m) Ralph Sampson to form a duo dubbed the "Twin Towers". The two led the Rockets to the 1986 NBA Finals, where they lost in six games to the Boston Celtics. After Sampson was traded to the Warriors in 1988, Olajuwon became the Rockets' undisputed leader. He led the league in rebounding twice (1989, 1990) and blocks three times (1990, 1991, 1993).
Despite very nearly being traded during a bitter contract dispute before the 1992–93 season, he remained in Houston where in 1993–94, he became the only player in NBA history to win the NBA MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP awards in the same season. His Rockets won back-to-back championships against the New York Knicks (avenging his college championship loss to Patrick Ewing), and Shaquille O'Neal's Orlando Magic. In 1996, Olajuwon was a member of the Olympic gold-medal-winning United States national team, and was selected as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. He ended his career as the league's all-time leader in blocks (3,830) and is one of four NBA players to record a quadruple-double.

Bismack Biyombo

Bismack Biyombo Sumba (born August 28, 1992) is a Congolese professional basketball player for the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings and subsequently traded to the Charlotte Bobcats (now Charlotte Hornets).

Amir Johnson

Amir Jalla Johnson (born May 1, 1987) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has previously played for the Detroit Pistons, the team that selected Johnson in the second round of the 2005 NBA draft, as well as the Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics.

Kevin Willis

Kevin Alvin Willis (born September 6, 1962) is an American former professional basketball player mostly known for playing with the Atlanta Hawks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was a 7-foot power forward/center.
Willis is one of fifteen players in NBA history with over 16,000 career points and 11,000 career rebounds. He was named to the NBA Eastern Conference All-Star Team in 1992, when he finished the season with a career-high average of 15.5 rebounds a game. 
Willis holds career averages of 12.2 ppg, 8.4 rpg, and 0.9 apg while averaging 27 minutes per game in 21 NBA seasons. During his 23 years in the league, Willis won one championship, with the San Antonio Spurs in 2003. He shares the record for most seasons played in the NBA with Robert Parish, Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter and Dirk Nowitzki. 
During the 2004–05 season, Willis was the oldest player in the league at age 42, and he would continue to be until his retirement at the conclusion of the 2006–07 season at the age of 44.

Jermaine O'Neal

Jermaine Gregory O'Neal (born October 13, 1978) is an American retired professional basketball player. The 6 ft 11 in (2.11 m), 255 lb (115 kg) forward–center had a successful high school career and declared his eligibility for the 1996 NBA draft straight out of high school. O'Neal was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 17th overall pick, but was unable to break into the first team in Portland and was traded to the Indiana Pacers in 2000. In his eight seasons with the club, he was voted an NBA All-Star six times, made the All-NBA teams three times, and was voted the NBA Most Improved Player in the 2001–02 season. O'Neal also helped Indiana reach the NBA Playoffs six times, including the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2003–04 season.
O'Neal was traded to the Toronto Raptors before the 2008–09 season began, and later played for the Miami Heat, the Boston Celtics, and the Phoenix Suns. O'Neal's final NBA season was the 2013–14 season, which he spent with the Golden State Warriors.

Ed Davis

Edward Adam Davis (born June 5, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played high school basketball at Benedictine High School in Richmond, Virginia. He is the son of former NBA player Terry Davis, who played 10 seasons (1989–2001) with the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets and Washington Wizards. He was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors.

Jakob Poeltl

Jakob Pöltl or Jakob Poeltl is an Austrian professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association. He played college basketball for the Utah Utes. In his sophomore year, Pöltl was a consensus second-team All-American and won the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award and Pete Newell Big Man Award as the top collegiate center and low-post player, respectively. After the season, he declared for the 2016 NBA draft, where the Toronto Raptors selected him in the first round with the ninth overall pick.

Žan Tabak (born June 15, 1970) is a Croatian professional basketball coach and former professional basketball player. He currently serves as a head coach for Basket Zielona Góra of the Polish Basketball League and the main coach of the Slovak national team. His basketball career, spanning twenty years, was marked by several notable achievements, despite injuries. He was the first international player to play in the NBA Finals for two teams. Zan Tabak averaged 5.0 points in his 6-year NBA career.

Radoslav Nesterović

Radoslav "Rašo" Nesterović (Serbian Cyrillic: Радослав "Рашо" Нестеровић, Slovene: Radoslav "Rašo" Nesterovič; born May 30, 1976), usually referred to in English as Radoslav "Rasho" Nesterovic, is a retired Slovenian professional basketball player. He holds citizenship in both Slovenia and Greece. In the NBA he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, and Toronto Raptors. Nesterović retired in 2011.

Lucas Nogueira

Lucas Riva Amarante "Bebe" Nogueira is a Brazilian professional basketball player who currently plays for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association. He was selected with the 16th overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics, but was later traded to the Atlanta Hawks. In 2014, his rights were traded to the Toronto Raptors.

Andrea Bargnani

Andrea Bargnani (Italian pronunciation: [anˈdrɛːa barˈɲaːni]; born 26 October 1985) is an Italian professional basketball player. The 7 ft 0 in (2.13 m) power forward-center played for Benetton Treviso in the Italian LBA and the EuroLeague before being selected first overall in the 2006 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors. He spent 10 seasons in the NBA before ending his career with a stint in Spain during the 2016–17 season.

Rafael Araújo

Rafael Paulo de Lara Araújo, nicknamed "Baby" and later "Bàbby" in Brazil, (Portuguese pronunciation: [ʁafaˈɛɫ aɾaˈuʒu]; born August 12, 1980) is a Brazilian retired professional basketball player. He played for three years in the National Basketball Association.

Herbert L. Williams (born February 16, 1958) is a retired American basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for eighteen seasons from 1981 to 1999. Jelani McCoy

Jelani Marwan McCoy (born December 6, 1977) is an American former professional basketball player. A 6'10" power forward/center, he played in the NBA from 1998-2007 for the Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, and Denver Nuggets.  He attended college at UCLA and high school at St. Augustine High School in San Diego, California.

John Salley

John Thomas Salley (born May 16, 1964) is an American retired professional basketball player,  and talk show host. He was the first player in NBA history to win championships with three franchises, as well as the first player (and only one of two, the other being Tim Duncan) in the NBA to win a championship in three decades.
After being drafted in the first round out of Georgia Tech in 1986, the 6'11 (2.11 m) Salley played both power forward and center for the Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, Panathinaikos and Los Angeles Lakers. He was a long-time host of the former Fox Sports Net show The Best Damn Sports Show Period. He is a vegan activist, chef, and wellness entrepreneur.
