For years, film and television writers have tried to crystallize what a hacker is and explain it to the technophobes of the world, but more often than not their depictions of console cowboys are one note and completely flat.&nbsp;Why write a nuanced character when all you need to do is slap some black hair dye on an actor and make them spout a bunch of techno babble? A lot of the hackers on this list come from the time capsule that was the &#39;90s,&nbsp;a time when everything felt possible and no one knew what was coming next from Silicon Valley. Light Yagami

Light Yagami is a fictional character and the protagonist of the manga series Death Note, created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. He is a bored young genius who finds the Death Note dropped by the Shinigami Ryuk by pure chance. Using the notebook, which allows its owner to kill anyone simply by knowing their name and face, Light becomes a mass-murderer known as Kira in an attempt to create and rule a world "cleansed of evil" as "the god of the new world".
In the anime adaptation, he is voiced by Mamoru Miyano in Japanese, and by Brad Swaile in English; in the live-action film series, he is portrayed by Tatsuya Fujiwara.

Yugi Mutou

Yugi Mutou is a fictional character and the protagonist of the manga and anime series Yu-Gi-Oh!. He is a young boy whose body becomes inhabited by the spirit of an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh named Atem when he completes the Millennium Puzzle, also known in the English manga as Dark Yugi. Yugi's main defining trait in the manga is that he has an extreme fondness for games of all kinds, and his alter-ego Dark Yugi is a master gamer and gambler, often referred to in the manga as Game King. He first starts off as a vigilante; using the powers given to a Millennium Item wielder, he challenges bullies and criminals to occult judgment games called Games of Darkness and enforces Penalty Games on them when they lose, dark punishments that may or may not result in death. Perry the Platypus

Perry the Platypus, also known as Agent P or simply Perry, is an anthropomorphic platypus from the animated television series Phineas and Ferb. Perry is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker and created by the series' co-founders, Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh. He first appeared along with the majority of the main cast in the pilot episode "Rollercoaster." Perry is featured as the star of the B-plot for every episode of the series, alongside his nemesis Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz.
Perry is the pet platypus of the Flynn-Fletcher family, and is perceived as mindless and domesticated. In secret, however, he lives a double life as a member of an all-animal espionage organization referred to as the O.W.C.A.. He engages in daily battles with Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, an evil scientist who desires to take over the Tri-state area with obscure contraptions that fail every time.

Damon Salvatore

Damon Salvatore Stefan's older brother, brash and arrogant, with dark hair and black eyes. He's dark and sadistic, but also charming and seductive; the playboy that is careless about what he does, and the effects of his actions. Events in The Fury and Dark Reunion show that Damon is also capable of fierce loyalty and affection, though he is often misunderstood, which Elena sees. In The Awakening He calls himself Damon Smith, attending college on a vacation. Back in the day in Italy, where the brothers come from, he graduated from university. He shows feelings towards Elena and Bonnie both, though Bonnie receives less attention.

Like all vampires, Damon has the power of persuasion, and increased strength and speed.  Damon also has the ability to control crows and fog.  He wears a ring that allows him to be in the sunlight without burning.

Pikachu

Pikachu are a fictional species of Pokémon. Pokémon are fictional creatures that appear in an assortment of comic books, animated movies and television shows, video games, and trading card games licensed by The Pokémon Company, a Japanese corporation. The Pikachu design was conceived by Ken Sugimori and first appeared in the 1996 video games Pokémon Red and Blue for the original Game Boy.
Like other species of Pokémon, Pikachu are often captured and groomed by humans to fight other Pokémon for sport. Pikachu are one of the most well-known varieties of Pokémon, largely because a Pikachu is a central character in the Pokémon anime series. Pikachu is regarded as a major character of the Pokémon franchise and has become an icon of Japanese culture in recent years.

Sherlock Holmes is a fictional private detective created by British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Tenth Doctor

The Tenth Doctor is an incarnation of the Doctor, the protagonist of the BBC science fiction television programme Doctor Who. He is played by Scottish actor David Tennant in three series as well as nine specials. As with previous incarnations of the Doctor, the character has also appeared in other Doctor Who spin-offs. In the programme's narrative, the Doctor is a centuries-old Time Lord alien from the planet Gallifrey who travels in time in his TARDIS, frequently with companions. When the Doctor is critically injured beyond medical repair, he can regenerate his body; in doing so, his physical appearance and personality change, and a new actor assumes the role. Tennant's portrayal of the Doctor is of an outwardly charismatic and charming adventurer whose likeable and easygoing attitude can quickly turn to righteous fury.
This incarnation's companions include working class shop assistant Rose Tyler, medical student Martha Jones, and fiery temp worker Donna Noble.

Jake the Dog is, along with Finn the Human, the main character in the American animated television series Adventure Time created by Pendleton Ward. He is voiced by John DiMaggio. The character made his debut in the original pilot. Jake is Finn's best friend and adoptive brother. He is a shape-shifting dog who is 28 years old in "magical dog years". His magic powers allow him to stretch, shrink, or mold any part of his body to any shape and almost any size, ranging from becoming gigantic to becoming incredibly small. He acts as a confidant and mentor to his energetic brother, though has a tendency to give somewhat questionable advice. Jake has a laid-back attitude in most situations, but loves adventure and will eagerly fight when he needs to. His powers help Finn considerably in combat and transportation, but are also sometimes used as nothing more than jovial forms of expression. Jake is in a relationship with Lady Rainicorn voiced by Niki Yang; they have five children together as seen in "Jake the Dad". He met Lady in the pilot episode and is quite skilled at playing the viola, which houses a worm called Shelby.
The character has received largely positive critical reception.

Mario is a fictional character in the Mario video game franchise by Nintendo, created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. Serving as Nintendo's mascot and the eponymous protagonist of the series, Mario has appeared in over 200 video games since his creation. Depicted as a short, pudgy, Italian plumber who resides in the Mushroom Kingdom, he repeatedly rescues Princess Peach from the Koopa villain Bowser and stops his numerous plans to destroy him and take over the kingdom. Mario also has other enemies and rivals, including Donkey Kong and Wario.
Mario is said by many to be the most famous character in video game history. Mario games, as a whole, have sold more than 210 million units, making the Mario franchise the best-selling video game franchise of all time. Outside of the Super Mario platform series, he has appeared in video games of other genres, including the Mario Kart racing series, sports games, such as the Mario Tennis and Mario Golf series, role-playing video games such as Paper Mario and Super Mario RPG, and educational games, such as Mario Is Missing! and Mario's Time Machine. He has inspired television shows, film, comics and a line of licensed merchandise. Since 1995, he has been voiced by Charles Martinet, who first got the role in 1990.

Coach Ernie Pantusso

Ernie Pantusso, commonly known as "Coach", is a fictional character on the American television show Cheers, portrayed by Nicholas Colasanto between 1982 and 1985. Coach was Sam Malone's baseball coach before the series began. Then he became a bartender of Cheers while Sam became its owner and another bartender. He is not "worldly wise" but has some shred of wit. When Colasanto died in February 1985, Coach was written out as deceased without explanation, and then Woody Harrelson joined in as Woody Boyd since the fourth season of Cheers.

Peter Griffin

Peter Griffin is the main character of the American animated sitcom Family Guy. He is voiced by cartoonist Seth MacFarlane and first appeared on television, along with the rest of the family, in the 15-minute short on December 20, 1998. Peter was created and designed by MacFarlane himself. MacFarlane was asked to pitch a pilot to the Fox Broadcasting Company based on Larry & Steve, a short made by MacFarlane which featured a middle-aged character named Larry and an intellectual dog, Steve. After the pilot was given the green light, The Griffin family appeared on the episode "Death Has a Shadow".
Peter is married to Lois Griffin and is the father of Meg, Chris, and Stewie. He also has a dog named Brian, with whom he is best friends. He has worked at a toy factory, and at Quahog's Brewery. Despite the suburban blue-collar routine of his life, he has had a number of remarkable experiences.
Peter's voice was inspired by a janitor that MacFarlane heard at his school. His appearance was a redesign of the protagonist Larry from MacFarlane's previous animated short films The Life of Larry and Larry & Steve.

Dwight Kurt Schrute III is a character on NBC's The Office, portrayed by Rainn Wilson and based on Gareth Keenan from the original UK version of The Office. His character is one of the highest-ranking salesmen at the paper distribution company Dunder Mifflin, although the series expands on his character as bed-and-breakfast proprietor at Schrute Farms, a beet plantation, and as the owner of the business park enclosing Dunder Mifflin. He is notorious for his lack of social skills and common sense, his love for martial arts and the justice system, and his rivalry with fellow salesman Jim Halpert. He has at times risen to the position of Branch Manager of the Scranton branch, but often serves as a second or third in command as Assistant Regional Manager. In the final season, Dwight is finally offered the position of Manager.

Forsythe Pendleton "Jughead" Jones III is one of the fictional characters created by Bob Montana and John L. Goldwater in Archie Comics who first appeared in the first Archie story, from Pep Comics #22 (December 1941). He is the drummer of the Archies and is son of Forsythe Pendleton Jones II; in one of the early Archie newspaper comic strips, he himself is identified as John Jugworth Jones III (and in one strip, likely due to continuity error, as Forsythe Van Jones). He has a white sheepdog named Hot Dog and a younger sister, Forsythia "Jellybean" Jones. Jughead (shortened to Jug or Juggie) is the best friend of vocalist/guitarist Archie Andrews. Jughead is a smart, sharp-tongued, laid-back, and eccentric high school student. He is obsessed with eating food and in some storylines is asexual. Most see him as being lazy. He can be identified by his long nose, half-closed eyes, "S" sweatshirt, and crown-like button beanie hat, called a whoopee cap. Jughead is portrayed by Cole Sprouse in the live-action CW series, Riverdale.

Angelica Pickles

Angelica Pickles is a character who appears in the Nickelodeon shows Rugrats, All Grown Up!, and Rugrats Pre-School Daze, and is among one of the series' original characters. She is a spoiled child and the cousin of Tommy and Dil Pickles, and serves as the main antagonist of the series, but she's portrayed as an anti-heroine in the films who would side with the babies near the end against the respective main villains. In 2002 TV Guide ranked Angelica Pickles 7th in their list of "Top 50 Greatest Cartoon Characters of All Time".

Tommy Pickles

Thomas "Tommy" Pickles is a fictional character that appears in the Nickelodeon animated television series Rugrats and its spin-off All Grown Up! as the protagonist of the shows. He is voiced by E.G. Daily and first appeared on television in the Rugrats episode "Tommy's First Birthday". Tommy was created by Arlene Klasky and designed by Gábor Csupó. Klasky was taking care of her fifteen-month-old son when the idea of a show about a one-year-old's point of view came to her, the day before she, Csupó, and Paul Germain were scheduled to pitch a show to Nickelodeon for their Nicktoons series. The character is named after Germain's son.
Tommy is the eldest son of Stu and Didi, and the brother of Dil. Tommy's most prominent character traits are his bravery, kindess, and loyalty. He has appeared in other media relating to Rugrats, including video games, films, and comic strips. Hallmarks of the character include his all-purpose screwdriver and his catchphrases "A baby's gotta do what a baby's gotta do!" and "Hang on to your diapies babies, we're going in."
In the unaired and released on DVD Rugrats pilot episode, Tommy was voiced by Tami Holbrook.
