Although Tyranitar is a very powerful Pokemon, you want its moveset to be optimal by having powerful moves that offer a wide coverage against as many Pokemon types as possible. As a Dark/Rock Pokemon, many trainers opt to include STAB (Same-type attack bonus) attacks like Stone Edge and Crunch, but it can also learn a large variety of moves outside of its own types. These include moves like Ice Punch (Ice), Iron Head (Steel), and Superpower (Fighting), which are all considerations for moves you want to include in your Tyranitar's moveset across multiple generations.
With the help of Pokemon trainers like you, this list ranks the best moves to teach Tyranitar, and is dynamically ordered by your votes. Included with each move name are helpful statistics, along with what level Tyranitar can learn each one. Obviously you are going to want to swap some of these out depending on your opponent, but they are all really solid choices that will help you take other trainers down. One last thing - we strongly recommend Adamant for Tyranitar's nature!

A non-damaging move that raises attack power and movement speed, Dragon Dance is great for Tyranitar as every usage slowly makes it one step closer to becoming an unstoppable Pokemon that can one shot every Pokemon in their path.
Given that Tyranitar is a rock/dark type, including Stone Edge as your STAB move (Same-type attack bonus) is probably your best bet in fulfilling that obligation. The move is very powerful and has an increased critical hit ratio, but suffers from only having an 80% accuracy rate. As stats show below, Tyranitar can learn this move both from leveling up, as well as being taught it through a TM/TR.
A fire attack move that is simple and straight to the point, Fire Punch is a great fire type move that is not only effective against Bug, Grass, Ice, and Steel types, it can also possibly leave a lasting burn effect that is sure to lay down extra damage.
One of the strongest and most riskiest fighting moves in Pokemon games, Superpower allows its users to unleash a damage dealing attack, but it lowers the Pokemon's Attack and defense stat right after. Players who feel that they are cornered can possibly get out of it, but using Superpower.
A strong and reliable ice type move that is similar to Fire Punch and Thunder Punch. The move has a 10% possibility to freeze your opponents and any Pokemon unfortunate enough to be affected and frozen from the attack is sure to feel Tyranitar's wrath as it stay there frozen.
One of the most devastatingly powerful attacks out of all of the rock type moves, Rock Slide is one that is sure to cause critical damage to most Pokemon out there. The fact it also causes effected Pokemon a possibility to flinch, makes it not only a strong attack move, but also a strategic one as well.
